This video was very enlightening, if a little bit of a bummer, as a lot of this info suggests I’m going to really struggle to fix my own pain. I’m not a runner or an athlete, though I do strength training and cardio at the gym twice a week. However, I’m disabled (multiple sclerosis) and on crutches, and I’ve had bad extensor tendinitis in both feet for over a year. It’s making it very painful to walk and increasing my falls. Though my dorsiflexion is good, my balance is terrible, I have no proprioception, I put very weird stress on my feet by landing on the wrong bits of them, sometimes I drag them, sometimes they turn inwards, it’s just all messed up lol 😂 My main issue I think is that I can’t rest them. I live alone, I don’t drive, I volunteer with multiple organisations, and I literally don’t sit down during the day, I don’t watch TV or use a sofa, there’s just no time in the day, and if I sit down I have terrible spasms when I get up anyway 🤷‍♀️ I even eat stood up at the kitchen counter; I’m so shaky and unbalanced that I couldn’t carry it anywhere anyway. If ET can come from other areas of the ankle and leg, I’m not sure how I can tackle all of the deficits which could potentially be contributing, since they’re neurological.

@@trala8911 thank you for your comment! I think that when it comes to balance work it is a very slow and steady approach. If may take time but keep the faith it sounds like you are doing great things so keep up the good work. Have tried self massage in the area or even ice to help settle the symptoms whilst you build your strength

Hi, glad i found your video! I was thinking i had Morton Neuroma but know I'm pretty sure it's Tendonitis. It's only in my right foot and the pain level is about 3 sometimes higher...Question, I'm checking my ankle strength and it hurts to squat on my right side just below the knee. Left side is fine. So I think I might have found the root cause of my foot problem. I'll keep trying to get my ankle strength up but SLOWLY! LOL My Orthopedic Dr said "if it hurts stop doing it!"

Thank you - I think I have this condition (had it for over 16 months) but has been wrongly diagnosed as metatarsalgia. Just tried those stretching muscles and very tight. I have a massage gun, should I use that on shin muscle or top of foot?

  • @JonWSportsInjury

I would certainly use on the shin area. On top of the foot maybe a little sore, I would use your hands to the massage the top of the foot. Hope that helps

That was a smashing video. I'm having trouble on and off for a few years with foot pain. I had myself terrified I have arthurits or something, but I'm hoping it's something simple like this. After watching this video, my thoughts are that my right left is externally rotated out from driving for years, and maybe that's the cause. Anyway, thanks for the video. Very well presented and informative.
