Why are the lyrics not the actual japanese translated lyrics though?

I didn't expect this to hit so differently from the original. This interpretation of the song is more energetic than that of YOASOBI's while Studio Yuraki's cover is slightly softer-spoken. Kinda weird that they have completely different lyrics too tho

As someone on the autism spectrum, Legosi's story really resonates with me. Seeing him struggle in finding balance between what he wants from life and what everyone else wants from him is something I personally go through, never being sure if what I'm doing in the moment is the right thing, and having to live with this can be hard on my psyche. The fact that he still tries to overcome these doubts in spite of everything gives me hope that I don't have to live in fear of my own flaws and be free to love and live like he's doing.

怪物 is a pretty interesting word in Japanese. It means most directly something like “a strange/mysterious creature” as a monster. The first character is also part of the word 怪我 meaning “wound”, however this is also a foreign word taken into Japanese and can even be written ケガ without kanji. There’s also the implication that it’s a strange creature who can/will hurt you. It’s the same “kai” in another word for monster/-apparition: 妖怪 yōkai. 化け物 bakemono may also be translated as monster. I would say that “kaibutsu” has a shade of meaning akin to “mysterious (and possibly capable of harm) figure” which is in like with Legoshi’s whole struggle as a patently natural born murder machine that lives for herbivores

I got this on spotifiy a while back, was watching more anime this season, and thinking of OPs. You nailed the hell out of this one. If you're having a bad day when you see this comment I hope it helps a little. I actually like your interpretation of translation better than the original artist's. It's truly unfair for me to outright make this judgement without also addressing I appreciate the original artist in that, the work's origin came from them for one, and for two, that the artist earns 200% of my respect. They performed in English, a secondary language. To simply have the drive to want to do something like that, in order to attract new fans who would have otherwise, never given you a second look, really shows dedication to your craft. I really hope they receive more dedicated fans as an artist, simply because they put in the work, an they really went the extra mile (and a half?, English is generally never easy for other language speakers to grasp. (A very inconsistent, rule flip-floppy language especially when it comes to the phonics of it)

HOLY COW (or WOLF XD), this is hands down the BEST English translation of a Japanese song that I have ever heard!! The frenetic feel is the same, and the lyrics have been translated faithfully without getting awkward. In some parts, I even feel the translated version does a better job getting the message across(the repeated 「生きるのか？」part). KUDOS and A THOUSAND BRAVI to the creative team for pulling this miracle off🎉🎉🎉!
