    On the hot side part of the video I had a typo. The Celsius for hot side should be 26C - 32C. Not 90C 😅

    I’m a first time beardie owner and was heavily misinformed before getting him. I was told he’d be inexpensive, low-maintenance, and easy for a college student. The rescue made their starting kit out to be much better than what it actually was. I’ve only had him for a week and I’m working my butt off to correct all the mistakes I made in the beginning and give him a happy life. I really appreciate this video!

    Yes it can be expensive at first but once you get everything it’s really just buying their food and isn’t as expensive as when you first get them. I’m happy I was of some help. 😊

    I'm adopting my first bearded dragon baby from a breeder! I couldn't be happier with this! He knows I go through stress in my life and fighting for my freedom and everything! And I know it's a chance I'm unable to pay for the dragon! So he offered to ship him to me for free if I do not win my freedom! I could not be happier with him! I'm getting a little boy from him! And I can't wait to see him in person!

    This is seriously great info. I just lost my 10 year old dragon 3 nights ago 😭(actually,I bought him for my son) I really don’t know what happened to him but I wish I had done more homework a lot sooner, there was so much we were doing wrong and I didn’t know it. Absolutely heart breaking to find out we weren’t really giving him everything he needed. He was fine and seemingly healthy a few days prior and then he found him upside down in his tank and very weak. I thought he may have been dehydrated so I went and got some pedialite and syringe fed it to him 1-1 with water. He hung in there for a day more but that was it. I wish I would have known what to do to try and save him because it’s eating me. I’m thinking he may have had a respiratory disease because the last half hour or so of his life he was seemingly gasping every 30 seconds or so in between breathing shallow. It kills me to think he suffered, I really hope not💔 Your content is priceless and I hope anyone with a bearded dragon takes the time to do proper research on caring for them and finds your channel

    It’s because they get up to 2 feet long and having an enclosure that’s minimum 2 times the length of the animals is good for them having to walk around. You can take them out but remember lots of people live in climates where they can’t take there dragons outside because it’s too cold year round. Also they need uvb and heat most room temp houses are 20 degrees colder than what they prefer so they will just sleep cause they are cold. So you can’t keep them out all day that’s why the bigger enclosure is necessary.

    My only thing is my dragon didn't have as many lights as mentioned here. My guy lived over 10 years, and he was a special, inbred fella, had an overbite and a strong hand as I like to call it. He didn't have much movement in his back legs and required a lot of attention, much more than a regular beardie ime. I've also experienced and had beardies who grew tumors, and we had em removed, just dealt with a lot. Would be interested to chat and shoot ideas and experiences around to make my next dragon live their best life! :)

    A friend of mine recently adopted a small dragon who was severely underweight, and also very impacted due to living in and eating sand, that took about 2 weeks to clear using 4 hot baths per day and some mineral oil. Her dragon is finally eating healthy again and gaining a lot more weight, but due to the severe malnutrition the beardie will sadly never reach her full adult size.

    I'm so glad I watched this video. The pet store told me everything I needed to hurt our bearded dragons. They said 2 dragons would be perfect in our 10 gallon tank. While we are now going to buy 2 larger tanks now I do have 1 question. Since they are too small to find out if they are male or female yet, if one day we wanted to mate them, what are the do's and don't since they should not be in the same tank?

  • @ChiefSweetsUniverse

    @ChiefSweetsUniverse

    10 ай бұрын

    Oh yeah that’s way too small for 1 dragon let alone 2! Happy to help you on the right track. So if you wanted to mate them later they do have to be around 2 years old cause that’s when they are sexually mature and are old enough to mate. Then when you want to mate them you can introduce them to each other. Have to watch carefully and they will mate in less than five minutes. After that 1 month she should dig for eggs lay them. Get those eggs put them in the incubator and then after two months they will hatch. That’s when you need at least 5 big enclosures I use sterlite tubs the 40 gallon ones. Have to have heat lamps and uvb bulbs for all babies. Then you raise the babies up 😁

    Hey thanks for the very informative video. Regarding substrate, I saw you mention in the comments that some people use just play sand for the bedding. Does it have to be a certain kind or does any work. There’s concern for silica in certain brands but if I just clean it and let it dry/air out would that be okay? And if all else fails is using paper towels as bottom okay for adults? Thanks again.

  • @ChiefSweetsUniverse

    @ChiefSweetsUniverse

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes some people do paper towels only that’s fine you can wash the play sand I have washed it before you can use a 5 gallon bucket and get a garden hose and eventually it will be clear when you wash it enough. I do say mix in some top soil or peat moss so that way it’s not constantly sinking when they walk on it but they will be fine regardless. Any kind of play sand is safe. Usually marketed towards kids so it’s pretty safe just wash the dust off and it will be great 😊

    Brumation question. During the winter months Australia can definitely get below freezing with the occasional snow storm. But in an enclosure with lightning (4×2×2) they can bask daily at 110° so technically they shouldn't go into brumation right? Or is it just like a biological clock and they're like "oh its cold outside of my enclosure time for nap?"

    @@DallasStorm43 you’re saying burrowing enrichment isn’t beneficial for bearded dragons? It absolutely is. They dig deep burrows in the wild and will do so when given the opportunity in captivity. It’s a natural behaviour that they should not be deprived of.

  • @DallasStorm43

    @DallasStorm43

    Жыл бұрын

    @Nighting Gale Do you know why they dig burrows? To get to a cool spot, aka we provide that for them. Second, is to escape predators, which in captivity there are no predators. They don't live long in the wild for many reasons and impaction is one of them. So NO, it isn't ok to use any form of loose substrate. 😕

    If you make sure uvb is correct, heating is perfect, diet is good, maybe a vet visit to make sure it’s not calcium deficient. After they and he’s still sleeping and not losing weight for sure it’s brumation. When they brumate. They will pretty much not lose any weight.
