I played this to my thirteen year old daughter because I thought it was important that she be aware. We had a lovely deep conversation following. Sometimes just open the conversation, sheltering is not always best.

Your daughter is lucky to have parents that are aware, listen, try to understand, communicate, and are ready to help when needed. I think being heard and not feeling alone are huge at that age.

Hugs to your daughter from America. So many young people having such a rough time. It's hard to hear some of Ren's songs, they hit us right in the heart and soul....but you're 100% right that it does need to be talked about more often. Best wishes, for what I'm sure is, your lovely family.

So true.. in life there is always going to be someone younger, prettier, smarter, thinner, more built, cooler, richer etc.. the sad part about it is social pressures exist in this World 🌎 and the standards of what is beautiful etc.. are determined by the media etc.. it’s not something new but it is just in your face 24/7 sadly.. in addition you add bullies that can torture you in daily life or from as far as a world away on social media.. thinking back so many of the things I was so concerned with growing up I wish I could have talked to that teenager and told her you are enough…😢.. as parents instilling that in your child is a heartbreaking job sometimes.. you see them for what you know is perfect.. not in the literal sense necessarily but they are there own perfect them.. no one else ever was or ever will be them again.. we waste many precious moments on vapid endeavors when honestly we all know what really matters is the heart of a person.. for anyone going through the struggle themselves or with their kids I wish you all the best you/they can be.. Thanks for your reaction.. and as usual Ren you get a 10 from the American judge “me” lol.. 🎶♥️🎶

Thank you for doing this very important song and thank you for sharing - your thoughts very much appreciated. It's heartbreaking to see your child go through this, but she's got you and this support is going to make all the difference! Dark times teach us so much and the fact that she's going through such difficult time says a lot about who she is and what she can become precisely because she's going through it. I work with my niece on this very thing and the best thing I can do for her is remind her that she is here for a reason and not only there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but because she's in the dark place it signifies that there is Light - one doesn't exist without the other. Just keeping in mind that this is part of the process and it will make you stronger as you go through it, may help. Inner power is there and it's waiting to be found and nurtured. Unfortunately, (or fortunately depending how you look at it) if everything is always good and easy - there is no growth and not much to strive for. Those of us that go through the hard times, can take it as an opportunity to grow and succeed. Ren is an example of that of course. Blessing to you and yours.

What an incredible song! By stripping us of our self-esteem and making us dependent upon external validation, we are so easy to control. So many casualties. Ren's eloquence and vulnerability makes his music feel so personal! Thank you for reacting to his amazing catalog.

As the father of an 8 year old daughter who is sweet and silly but very sensitive, this age scares me to no end and this song highlights those fears. On one hand it fills me with rage that we all complicitly participate in this system and somehow can't find our way out of the madness. We just have to feel stuck in the fear of it all. Hope you find a way to navigate through all this with your little one.

Hey man I hope you and your family, especially your daughter get through those teen years as least scarred as possibly. Self worth is very important for kids making that transition from childhood into young adults and I've always thought that creativity can bring that to a person. Sometimes when the only measure of worth is our exams and what our peers say about us it's important to have something else to bring out that feeling of worth in ourselves and nothing does that better than creativity and the art forms. That can be many things Making Music & writing Lyrics , Photography, Painting, Writing, Pottery, Acting, Digital Art, Drawing, Flower Arranging, Model Making etc etc. Anything where not only can you express yourself, but you can get a feeling of self worth and achievement from creating something that you love doing and also takes you away from the everyday media advertising and preaching to you what you should be. Learning to be what you want to be is far more important than that. All the best to your daughter on that journey man.

Unfortunately this is an all too common problem now a days. All my best to you and your family. You are obviously a very caring father. Getting her help before it goes too far. Because, without that it just might. Growing up, girls were taught that the Barbie doll image was everything. If you didn't look like that, you weren't enough. I am now 55 and it's taken most of my life to be ok with me. It just seems to be a greater problem today with the internet bombarding the youth with perfect images. You might want to consider showing this to your wife and then your daughter. It may help. Thank you for sharing your personal story. That's what Ren's music does. It's just so real and done so well. It hits to the core of the matter. Shining a light on things normally kept in the dark. Probably rambling. So, thank you again for this. May your path be filled with hope, joy and love.😸

This song brings me to tears every time, I’m in my 60 s. It’s always been a strange and painful struggle for the young but now it’s lunacy that kids think Kardasians are a beauty ideal and porn is what intimacy is . Best wishes. A loving Dad is a powerful thing in a girls life. Believe me, her knowing that she is fantastic in your eyes, that she is more than you could have hoped for. That will be a safety raft she can cling too when predatory guys come round

Hey mate. As a fellow Dad,with a teen going through a lot, I get your frustration of trying to go through the ‘system’. I’m in Australia but feel things are not so different. It’s a struggle to know what questions to ask, who to turn to, who will actually be the right person to help our child. With enormous expense required just to get basic testing done to then start the process of who to turn to it can be devastating just to try and get to the starting line. I hope you find the right advice. Kids sure do send us curve balls we don’t see coming. All power to you and yours.

Also, please make sure that you get your daughter evaluated for ADHD...it can present completely differently in girls and is often overlooked/misdiagnosed because most of the "hyperactive" part is internal...racing thoughts, etc. and, thus, not seen. Every woman I know who was diagnosed later in life always say that they always felt like they could do nothing right/didn't belong...and spent years being misdiagnosed with just depression or anxiety when the root cause was ADHD and constantly feeling like they didn't measure up to their peers because they had to work so much harder at everything...without knowing why.
