Recommended Beard Trimmer: www.brio4life.com/products/be...
If you're new to the beard game or you've been living bearded for years, there are a few pieces of advice I want to give you.
You see, growing a beard isn't as simple as throwing the razor in the trash. As you start to grow, you'll quickly have some questions that come up. From trimming, to itching, to beard products and so on.
Typically, the first time you do anything is the worst time you do it. So here is a little advice I've learned over the years.
Have Patience & Don't Compare
If you find a beard style and length you like, you're going to be painfully waiting during the awkward stages to get there, and it could take longer than you're expecting.
On average, your beard grows about 1/2 an inch per month. But this is just an average! Your beard could grow faster, or slower! Your beard could start out really fast and then slow down! You should use the 1/2 inch rule as a rough guideline, but know it could take longer to get the look you're going for!
Secondly, don't compare your beard to others. If you see a guy with a super thick beard, or super curly, or straight etc. don't wish yours was like that. Rock the beard you've been blessed with and take care of it to make it the best it can be.
People Love AND Hate Your Beard
One thing you'll notice when you start growing is that some people just don't like beards, and that's ok! You'll have people around you telling you to shave. It could be your mom, grandma, friends, or coworkers. Just brush it off and keep growing. They'll learn to love it!
Line Up Your Beard Early
One easy way to avoid the negative comments is to keep it clean and organized. When you're growing your beard, I recommend lining up your beard in the early stages to keep it organized.
Your Beard Doesn't Always Look Good
There is a thing called a bad beard day so get ready. Your beard doesn't always look picture perfect. There will be days your beard looks like shit, and that's ok! Don't beat yourself up over it and definitely don't do something rash like shaving!
You Are Your Worst Critic
Piggybacking that your beard won't always be perfect...you are absolutely your own worst critic! You are staring at your beard 3 inches away from the mirror, nobody else is. Nobody is looking at every hair. So if you find yourself going crazy because an area is thin, or the hairs stick out trust me, nobody even notices.
Beard Products Make All The Difference
You need to be using beard wash instead of regular shampoo or soap. Beard wash is designed for your face and beard, the others are much too harsh and will dry out your face and beard causing damage and slow beard growth.
Beard oil isn't for your beard...it's for your skin. It will eliminate beard itch and moisturize your skin so your beard can grow better.
Beard butter will literally change your life! Ok, that's a little bold, but it's seriously amazing It will give you just enough hold to tame the flyaway hairs and keep your beard shaped and looking good all day long!
We hope you enjoyed this video! If you did, make sure to subscribe. Don't hesitate to reach out to us at support@livebearded.com with any questions.

This reminds me of when I first started shaving my head because I started getting thinner on top. My Mom would constantly tell me how bad it looked to the point of harassment. It was the first time I had ever experienced a loved one being so critical of my appearance with regards to something I couldn't really control. Like yes, I didn't have to shave my head, but I liked how I looked so much better than I did where you could see my scalp through a thinning head of hair. And for someone to make me feel like shit about myself over something I felt like I couldn't help. It made me physically ill. Fortunately, she eventually stopped obsessing over it and came to accept my new look. But holy shit can people be absolute unempathetic assholes sometimes just because your decisions about your appearance don't line up with their expectations. My advice, double down the moment anyone challenges you on any decision you make about your appearance. The second you give an inch, is the second they feel like they have the power to guide your decisions about your appearance. Don't let them.

I've been growing my beard, for the first time, for 3 months untouched. This Friday I'm getting it trimmed for the first time and for about the last half of the month I've been mulling over what to tell my barber that I want done. After watching your video, I've determined to leave the length and to hit those 3 lines you mentioned. Thank you for your beard insight brother.

  • @livebearded

    @livebearded

Awesome bro! It's always important to leave the length unless it's becoming see through. In this case your under beard just needs to catch up with the rest of your beard. Be sure the barber your going to specializes in beards and has actual prices displayed for beard trims. This will let you know that they do them often and your results should be pretty awesome.

Spencer - solid advice as always When first growing your beard, give it 3 months, without trimming the length, to really get an idea of what you have to work with It's definitely important to keep your cheeks and neck trimmed up as you start growing, it shows intention as opposed to just being scruffy and not shaving

Hey, that's Charles Haddon Spurgeon. I'm unbearded (only 16) but have sideburns. As for my profile picture, I read this quote and thought it was cool. I'm a member of the body of Christ and enjoy Spurgeon's sermons, but mostly my green tea, prayer, and Bible reading & study in the morning. I recorded a part from one of his sermons and use it as a secondary Alarm in the morning, basically the recording telling me to arise and get out of your carnal bed, don't waste a moment. Funny just seeing a picture and automatically recognizing who it is. Forgive me if this is just foolish talk.

I've served in the military, I've quit smoking, I've given up alcohol but the hardest thing I have ever done mentally is grow a beard, I would look at it 100 times a day analysing it and spent the entire journey doubting myself because of a couple patches it's only now after 6 months and multiple trim ups I'm starting to become a lot more satisfied, so no matter what you start with just remember that it all may pay off in the end. Don't give up and let that beard breath baby!!!!

The beard oil doesn't stop the itching, I also use a brush. Beard soft net and shampoo. Been growing for the past twelve days and I've had itchiness for the past five days, I've don'e everything by the book. I feel I should start a fresh, shave, heal and retry when my skin isn't so raw.

  • @livebearded

Hey brother, are the oil and washes you are using all natural? The chemicals found in most will definitely dry out and damage your skin, especially if you have more sensitive skin that is already irritated. It is very important to read the ingredients. About 5 drops of Live Bearded oil applied to the skin will relieve the itch, guaranteed. Our all natural wash is the perfect compliment to it as well. Once you start to get some length, adding beard butter for conditioning is the best way to go. Normal conditioners leave a film surrounding your beard hairs that, at first touch, leave the beard feeling ok but is very damaging and doing much more harm than good. Try us out, or any brand that offers all natural products, your beard will thank you.

Men especially compliment my beard. Feels good. I just don't want anyone to mess with my beard so I shave it. I tried some stuff 2 weeks ago. Was a bit of a fail..oh well gotta wait two months now ☹️ I really want to find some expert in my area but damn if I don't like what they do, I gotta have to wait again. You are right tho, nobody looks my beard that closely. I have rn one mistake I wait to regrow. Nobody noticed.

One disadvantage of a 3-year-old beard is that you can't read my t-shirts. Also, I put oil and then balm in my beard and blow-dry it everyday. It does not damage it. for me.

the only thing other guys have EVER complimented me on is my beard, usually is nice beard, or love your beard man, or awesome beard, once I was told I had an epic beard. I also hear Gandalf! or Santa! because it is long curly and grey/white. Makes me feel so good! But also encountered some beard envy that made me feel a bit uncomfortable
