  • @JewelSchool

    Hi! Parawire is a non tarnish coated wire and comes in a variety of colors. Also, as far as spray, you can use the alchemy jewelry sealer. Alchemy is a water based sealer that creates an invisible barrier that protects your jewelry from tarnishing and protects your skin from discoloration and irritation. Once dried, you can’t see it, feel it or smell it. This is the perfect solution for people who can't wear earrings because their ears itch and swell while wearing them. No more itching. No more green skin. No more ruined jewelry. Gentle enough for contact with your skin but strong enough to protect your jewelry. Hope this helps!! Some of them are! She uses ruby and amazonite for one of the rings with small metal seed beads. We have both natural and artificially created gems in stock. We are an online retail store called Jewel School by JTV and you can find just about any bead you need! www.jtv.com/category/jewelry-making/beads/_/N-1547377695?mcid=XSOjsyt Susan uses a non-tarnish coated wire called parawire. Your wire is changing color due to a reaction between your skin and the wire. Definitely think about getting a non-tarnish coated wire. www.jtv.com/product/wire-kit-includes-non-tarnish-silver-non-tarnish-gold-and-rose-gold-tones-in-18-20-24-28-gauge/JSWRKIT011?mcid=XSOjsyt Also you can use a jewelry spray called Alchemy to coat the metal and that will help too. Here is a link: www.jtv.com/product/alchemy-jewelry-sealer-bundle-includes-4-oz-and-2-oz-spray-bottles/ACC053?mcid=XSOjsyt You may have to re-apply it every few months. Also, just be mindful to keep your jewelry clean using a professional cleaning cloth. www.jtv.com/product/4-ply-professional-cleaning-cloth-12-x-15-/JLC506?mcid=XSOjsyt

    I have the hardest time with any type of glue these days holding up. Do these not fall off eventually? I know for myself, it’s be no biggie, I’d just replace the bead, but I’d hate to give a gift and they fall off easily.

  • @JewelSchool

    @JewelSchool

    Жыл бұрын

    That's a great question and one that we don't know the exact answer to! However, most of the pieces created using bead fix gel are still going strong. As with any wear and tear, this will depend on how much you wear it, what activities you are doing while wearing it, and what you expose it to as far as chemicals. Things like acetone will dissolve a super type glue like this. The good news is that you can always re-apply glue to a bead that has fallen off. If you have customers or like you said, giving as a gift, just advise them to take care with their handmade jewelry as they would with any jewelry they own. Clean it with tepid water and a mild soap or use a jewelry cleaning cloth to lightly wipe away dirt and grime. Never use harsh chemicals or an at home ultrasonic cleaner to clean your jewelry. Better care equals longer life! Hope this helps!

  • @JewelSchool

    @JewelSchool

    Sounds like memory wire would work well for you. It's a very hard tempered steel wire that never loses it's shape. Also, it depends on the gauge your using. A dead soft wire, meaning your 22, 24, 26 and 28's will lose their shape much more easily than a half-hard wire like, 20, 18, 16, 14 and so on. Remember, the smaller the gauge the thicker and wire! You can try lightly hammering the band of your rings too. That will help to harden the wire a bit. Just be mindful that hammering too hard will mar your wire. Hope this helps!
