This is a great idea but kind of confusing. If the thick cord wouldn't go through the bead the first time, how does it go through the second time when the cord is doubled?

It’s because the end of the thick cord gets puffy and ragged. Something I’ve used in the past is to put glue on the end of the cord and elongate until it’s like a needle. When it’s dry, use it instead of a beading needle. This works on all kinds of thread.

@@geriyoungblood8500Yes, I do it like this too, mostly it'll work as long as the bead hole isn't too small off course. I would cut the end of the cord on an angle, then rub a small amount of glue just to keep the tip of the cord from fraying.

It will only work if the hole is big enough. If not bead will break
This is really a game changer for bead crafters! The first time I tried this I was so excited until I realize that my needle was too fat for the bead hole😂😂 So anyone trying this, make sure your needle fits through the bead first!😁👍 To the person in the video, Thank You! for having such nice clean fingernails. Ive seen too many craft videos lately with close ups of dirty fingernails and it was so distracting and off-putting.

An excellent way to break thread, cord, or beads. The hole of the bead would have to be only barely too small for the cord for this to work.

Hi, I came up with this method myself last year, and I agree some pearls will be too small for some threads to fit, or some threads too fragile to work. It's still very effective with the good thread and pearls with decent hole size, and of course by being gentle with the material.

I will be the first to admit I thought the same thing on first seeing this. Obviously there are going to be limits to what will work here, and I don't recommend trying this with very small-holed gemstones. But in cases like this, with glass or other sturdy beads and a hole only slightly too small, this hack works AMAZINGLY well! Worth a try! Currently threading a bracelet with a technique I thought would never work, and which absolutely did. Many thanks to @BeadedJewelryMaking for the tip!

What did you expect, instructions on how to thread a marine rope through a 1mm hole using magic? The trick works for what it is meant for. Did you see any beads or thread break in the video? Because they didn't. It just worked, as seen in the video. And I know from experience that this trick works and usually doesn't break anything.
Is it truly that the bead hole is too small for the cord or is it truly that the cord end is unruly with fraying? It doesn't seem likely that the same cord could go through a hole too small for it, especially doubled no less. I feel like I'm missing the fact here. Wouldn't simply using Bees Wax solve this issue?

I think it was a very soft cord she was using, you could see how it squished when it bent. The cord l use that is the same size is much stiffer, so it wouldn't work. I use a small dab of hot glue on the end of cord, rolled into a point, stops fraying and makes it easier to thread beads.

You are an absolute genius: I used to wear a Seraphinite beads bracelet but a few years ago the string snapped.. Such a beautiful and rare gemstone I kept thinking of a way to use the beads but I am such an idiot I didn't know how! Then you came along: God bless you
Alternatively, dip the frayed tip of your cord into the melted wax around the wick of a tealight candle, and work the wax and threads into a needle shape as it sets.

Nice, I just commented about the wax and then saw this. Great tip! You can buy waxed thread but for something like this, waxing your own thread gives you more control. I prefer stretch magic cord (like a clear fishing line but super stretchy) you can find it in most craft or fabric stores that sell beads

I DO like this method but have only had luck 50% of 4 attempts. Sadly I shattered LOVELY Amethyst beads purchased at Gem & Mineral show a few years ago which I'd been aaving for "the oerfect project." Was bummed when happened to 1st one & crushed when 2nd attempt yielded same results. It DID work well with plastic beads I tried. 😊 BTW I just LOVE the tune you used, it makes me cry when I hear it, but in a Good way. ❤

You can just use a piece of wire fold into half, I recommend flexible wire. Then you don’t need to due with the thread every time, you can reuse the wire again and again, and it’s much stronger than a thread which you might break it when pulling it too hard.

What max diameter of thread will fit thru and double loop thru what size bead hole size? Also What size thread to what hole size if i dont want the beads to slide or move easily?so how do you thread a 2mm thread into a 2mm bead hole? Or does it have to be 1.5 mm thread? Cannot seem to get any answers on this question
I was astounded to see that it worked caused you're doubling the thickness of the cord

Try using stretch magic cord or wax the cord. Some types of Dental floss work well with this as well. What I do is take a tooth pick and dab a dot of oil or Vaseline on the inside of the bead and any type of wax or chapstick if it's a cotton or poly thread. Hair pomade or softer hair dress work in a pinch as well. Work with what's around! :) thanks for this video.

The easier way would be to wind the clear wire string around one end of the cord and part of the wire string to secure it and off at the cord tip which would make the cord come to a point at the tip seem narrower then thread the beads on n the wire string and pull them up the cord. It works well and doesn't make it as difficult as pulling them over doubled cord.
