Theres been some amazing releases this year: Prelude to Ecstasy by The Last Dinner Party (most exciting new band in a long ass time) and also Loss of Life from MGMT (their most mature and emotional album yet still keeping their humor). Really hard to compete with Ants From Up There and Once Twice Melody, but still great albums that I have on repeat. Also excited for new Vampire Weekend coming out in a month.

I really would love to sit down with you two and talk about Beach House music all day, it'd be so exhilarating. I can't find anyone who loves BH as I do in real life.

Nice ranking and commentary... I think "Thank Your Lucky Stars" is SEVERELY underrated by the fans. It might even be my favorite... but being paired with "Depression Cherry" took some of the shine off of it at first.... I think it stands the test of time. (Side note: I've been lucky to do a few posters for BEACH HOUSE at the Fillmore in San Francisco. The first poster they HATED... (I like the art, but it was NEVER my choice to use it for the band... the Fillmore asked me to use it. The second go-round I did three posters... one of each of their 3-show run... and that went really well. The last one was a screenprint I did for their show at The Warfield in San Francisco. LOVE that band!

every BH album for me has its sentimental value, so i culdve never done such brave things as to rank their albums like you did lolllll

Cool video. Massive BH fan. My favorite band of all time. I’d say Bloom is their grandest and most consistent album. Truly a perfect album. The codas in Other People and The Hours bring me to tears. Teen Dream would probably be a close second for me, though I do think Real Love is probably the weakest track between these two albums. 10 Mile Stereo and Walk in the Park are my top 2 BH songs of all time. Depression Cherry and OTM are close behind Teen Dream. Days of Candy is my favorite BH closer with some of their best lyrics. If OTM was condensed to its best 10 tracks I think it could rival Bloom for sure. 7 and TYLS are both strong albums too, 7 definitely has some “paint by numbers” BH melodies but the textures are great. TYLS is the only BH album that has a stronger second half than first, I’d say. Rough Song is top 10 BH. Their first two records are good, but not great, in my opinion. They would go on to perfect that sound. Admittedly I’m not huge into Lo-fi sounding music. Solid records though, probably 7/10s for me.

Depression Cherry for sure. Front to back heat. Short and sweet. Best opener & closer imo. Sparks is my favorite BH track yet sounds like almost nothing else they’ve ever done
