    Finally some good information. Many video's about fishing but not to much about the fishing gear you can use. Started again with fishing after my retirement and learning now what to use and what to pay. Like to buy several boat and beach rods and reels for myself and some friends. Are here people with experience about NGT and Lineaeffe rods and reels? They are cheap and i think good enough for non-professionals like me and my friends.

    I've had other surf guys tell me braid is a bad choice. I agree with tony completely. Braid shows you everything. (I just set the drag very loose) You learn to tell whether it's a little guy or a giant, your rod rest just needs to be rigged not to let go before the drag inertia lets the line scream out. (For reference, I fish the north Florida Gulf Coast, and as a treat, I get a trip to the Atlantic side in coconut country a couple times a year.)

    They have and at the same time they have not. Rigs on the overall are still the same and rods and reels are still the same. What has changed is the quality of fishing line so in some cases you can get the same strenght on thinner lines wich means you can use thinner lines. Unless you fish on places with a lot of snags, in that case things are still the same too. Never use braid as reel line whatever the type of reel though

    Yep,I've done the shore shark thing,catching up to 8 Lemons over 100lbs to about 150lbs in an evening.Had big Bulls up to 300lbs as well but they are so strong I kept getting busted off on bridge buttresses.Locked drag, thumbs on spool.They still rip it out.Tried blues off rocks in Isles of Scilly (UK)but not had one yet.Best shore shark fishing are Bronzies off Namibia surf,and Florida Keys for Lemons and Bulls. Have found Blacktips not so good at night.I cast out the bait.No model boats.

    Hi i am a beginner fisherman and i know that you re an expert i wonder if you can help please. I just bought a reel Shimano Ultega 14000 xsd from Angling Direct just over a month ago and since i used it when i cast and turn the handle the metal above the spool doesnt click back after casting and i complaint they told me that with new Shimano reels it is normal. So i went on a blog in youtube i have been told that is wrong so i didnt know who to believe ! Thats why i am writing to you. Please clarify me if i am wrong. Thank you.

    Can't help you on that one as all my tackle is old,I don't know any of the new models/makes. I imagine if there is a fault you can get it changed/replaced or get a refund in accordance with any consumer protection on purchases. I'm guessing you mean the bale arm ? these normal reels clunk closed as you turn the handle,but maybe there is some new make where they don't do that.You need to look into it,maybe ask around on forums,or better still contact Shimano direct to to explain it to you.

    I have a reel that will hold 600 yards of 30 lb mono. I'm planning on filling it with 550 yards of 80 lb. braid and topping off with 50 lb mono. would that work for sharks from a pier? (USA)

  • @TAFishing

    @TAFishing

    7 жыл бұрын

    I personally wouldn't use the topping of 50lb mono on top of the braid.By the time you tie in the knot it may be substantially weaker,say 45lbs,and that sort of defeats the object to using the 80lb braid,which should be sufficient. I would stick with the 80 straight through.Good luck and send us a picture if you get one.

    Not a criticism but do you use auto focus on the camera? I noticed particularly talking in the tackle shop whenever either of you show a rig to the camera it refuses to focus it causing me to think you're on manual focus. Some cameras have an auto focus that you can hold down for a second and re-focus pretty quick. Other than that really top vids been watching since lastnight!
