Both cambois and sandy bay are my local beaches ...15 mins walk from my house . Fished them since I was 14 yrs old (52 now lol) ...always a great chance of flats in the spring and summer ...plenty codling during the winter and had some tremendous bass fishing when Blyth power station was there.

Talking about your shoulder years ago I used to use a fixed spool reel and if I fished for hours like sessions on tynemouth pier that lasted from 8 in the evening till 6 in the morning in the 1980's when it was cold my shoulder and back used to ache big time so I switched to a multiplier with this reel been on my chest the pain wasn't as bad just a thought

Catching the odd flounder by accident is easy. Actually targeting them is a different game 👍👍👍
