really amazing how Elliot Smith has become one of the most enduring artistic voices for generation after generation. Great songwriting and great melody always endures and this is coming from someone who was in the "jazz" world for a while (i love jazz but I took a roundabout path to song driven music). While I appreciate a ton of music, I have really come around to the singular power of a singer with a great melody and a few chords, something eternally powerful about that.

I am friends with her mom. She’s my next door neighbor in Iloilo City, Philippines. Good family friends. Bea’s mom listened to Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Metallica, the Smiths, the Cure, etc. We use to swap cassette tapes of our rock albums. We will see Bea in concert in Chicago on December. The Metro, the venue where Smashing Pumpkins made a name as a great alternative rock band. Parents are so proud their taste of music growing up in the Philippines transcends.
