I watch so many lore breakdown channels across all mediums (movies, games, comics, creepypasta etc) and I can say without a doubt that your style of storytelling is both incredibly unique and some of the best I've watched. Keep doing you! I hope big things follow.

if there's a game I'm not quite understanding the lore/story of I always come here first to see if she's done it first as her explanations always make things make sense to me; like that one teacher in a subject you just never seemed to understand UNTIL you had the class with them - some people are just better at explaining things to others in different ways and I just adore that about this channel I have actually watched many a 'story explained' or 'understanding the lore of' video specifically on this game as it's always fascinated me, but try as I might I've just never been able to get into playing the game myself so while I understood the basics and jest of it all I knew there was way more to it all; now once again Lady of Lore comes through and I finally really truly get the story/world & yes Lore of Death Stranding; super excited to see you get to 100 k subscribers and beyond!

Higgs calls himself "The God Particle" because his name refers to the Higgs Boson, the fundamental particle associated with the Higgs Field, a field that gives mass to other fundamental particles such as electrons and quarks. The Higgs Field is what makes the existance of matter and it's interactions possible. Without it there'd be no atomic elements, no stars, no life in the universe. When you consider that (both in a literary and metaphorical sense) every element of the story coalesces the way it does because of his actions, the name seems more than apt. Crazy how Kojima managed to tell a story that starts making MORE sense once you start drawing parallels to quantum mechanics and particle physics.

I absolutely HATED Deadman until the shower scene. Never have I gone between murder to love so fast. An inverse betrayal. But more surprising was how fond I became Diehardman. His life was hellish even before forced into an impossible situation that resulted in the death of his friend, captain, and constant savior. I was so happy when he got closure. Mamas forever. I also love that your outro is just a collection of Louise.

I'm rewatching this and something about Malingen and Lochne is getting to me. My sister and I have shaped each other, and if she died I know a piece of me would go with her. I'm happy that there doesn't have to be an "apart" so great as death sometimes, even if it's just in fiction. But actually now that I think about it, throughout the entire game siblings are connected in greater ways than any other humans. The twins, Sam and America, maybe Fragile and Higgs even? They are either able to wander easily to each others' beaches or share one beach entirely. It makes me wonder a lot about Kojima's story reasoning for that, especially considering Heartman's whole thing, but idk, maybe it doesn't mean anything.

I am so glad I found these videos. This has been such an enthralling listen (and watch), the storytelling/delivery is top notch. While Kojima wrote a wild story with ridiculous lore, this video really makes it work on a much greater level (especially with the criticisms of Higgs, etc.). I may often think of Kojima as a writer who gets too heady ideas for his own good (unable to really land the concept and losing focus on the interesting) but this video at least demonstrates some things that had gotten lost in his previous games: the need for compelling characters having compelling moments, especially the story of Mama...wow, that hit hard. Thanks for bringing this to life in such a wondrous way.

Bridgette was never his mother. Bottom line, despite what she says, she only viewed Sam as a tool. A means to an end. And she’d do anything to manipulate him to get what she wants. So when they pull the whole “think of your mother Saaaam” he’d be WAY more than justified to tell em to fuck off. And how he’s just, cool with everyone after the ending after ALL they’ve done? Tbh I want DS2 to be about taking down Bridges, and starting something better.

The narrative and style is top notch. But no "additional lore" was provided other than the "in your face" stuff all players will experience in a single let's play. The biggest secret of the game is obtaining the full set of "Lucy's Interviews" (near impossible, and requires playing past the ending), what they imply, the implications to the story narrative, and who BB-28 *really* is. There are two main mysteries delivered to the player, with two grand reveals associated with them. But then there is a tiny reveal at the very end - "Lou, Louise" (BB-28 is not a "she" until that very moment, bit of a whopsie, but that's a minor complaint), and now it's up to the player to find the mystery belonging to that reveal. That's also when you realize you've been tricked by the deliberate cinematography. I mean, the game tells you directly in a 4th wall breaking moment that nobody recognizes: "...To connect the dots, you need time. You need perspective..." If up for it, check out Tommie Earl Jenkins video where he reads out Lucy's Interview in full, only takes about 1.5 hours: JOY TO THE WORD - The Death Stranding Edition Ep. 9 "LUCY" Check out how the first repatriation scene "plays out" from Sams' point of view. What exactly is happening with BB-28? This, for me at least, is confirmed further (as if all the clues in DS1 wasn't enough once you're equipped to notice them) by a tiny detail appearing in the DS2 announcement preview video. How does the last cutscene start, and how could this be if Sam was made a repatriate *after* this point? Why does Cliff have a C-section, an obsession with dolls, being a man who was always able to save the squad and "couldn't get myself killed anymore" with memories of 3 wars? What's the feedback loop (ref "early" explanation) about? Why can Sam suddenly "see" BTs without BB-28 after Mountain Knot? Sam is not the only repatriate with DOOMS yet he's only "special" (early in the game), but truly "unique" (late in the game) - why? If not clear already, think blood *lines* rather than just blood. Are *WE* sure Sam was the only survivor of the blast (Manhattan voidout)? Ref the big secrecy surrounding BB-28. Why is BB-28 broken (ref Igor and Deadman), a massive secret, showing massive development (for its presumed age, which conflicts with how many users it has served), and shows up unscathed every time Sam dies or causes a voidout (eaten by BT)? Watch DS2 trailer and look for details. No, 3-5 times isn't gonna cut it to see everything. I'm at 40+ and still picking up minor hints. I mean, it took decades and many games in order to properly decipher the timeline of MGS, I'd expect nothing less from Death Stranding. I don't know how repatriation takes place if killed after BB-28 is removed in Mountain Knot part, but if you die before obtaining it - such as jumping off a cliff in the beginning - you repatriate via Doll tech. All other times you repatriate via BB tech. Being Kafkaesque in its delivery, I'm pretty sure I'm missing some things, or they are open to other interpretations. But I definitely feel I'm on the right idea. I'll be amazed out of my chair if DS2 (and beyond) proves me wrong.

This has been the best break down if death stranding I've watched, you presented the information really well you made it easy to understand and it was thorough without being boring

Phenomenal. Easily one of the best games I've ever played and even though I didn't have all of the lore straight in my head by the end of it, I knew I had experienced something pretty amazing. Thank you for doing all the legwork to put it all together. I could probably not have gotten it all without a half-dozen playthroughs and intense note taking.
