There's a little bit of instrumental before that strong beat at the beginning starts. It's quiet tho, so he might have difficulty hearing the signal to go, especially in a music show.

I actually think it might just be for this or whenever they perform this not wearing their in-ear monitors, which they have for the live performances on music shows. I'm assuming the song is counted in through his/their in-ears. Clearly they don't have those for these kinds of performances though, so they don't have any real count-in unless they added it to the track that's played out loud while filming.

I agree with what Jongho said around 5:55 or something, and that’s probably the main problem about KQ (which is one of the best companies ethically speaking in my opinion) : every member gets ONE job and for example : - San and Yunho get the dance break so they don’t get the time to show their vocal abilities (it’s usually pre-recorded on stage / doesn’t bother me though it must be really hard) - Jongho often has the high notes which he belts and I’m sorry but I’m quite scared he’s gonna damage his beautiful voice (think about the “goodbye baby” part at MAMA), some of his lines could be given to Wooyoung who has a high voice range for example + he’s often hidden behind the best dancers - YEOSANG needs line omg, five to ten seconds of a melody which I’ll call “basic” aren’t “lines” - The two rappers share a good part of the song, I love our talented leader with all my heart and it’s not his fault but the “tteugeogbe tteugeobge” part could have been given to a vocalist to make the line distribution more even

yeah ive been noticing that too, at least in their title tracks. it doesn't really bother me tbh though because they broaden their horizons & abilities more in their albums. what i do wanna point out is, seonghwa & his voice are really shining this era so far. ive always loved his voice, he has one of my favorite voices in ateez. so i love the fact that we're finally really hearing the emotion he brings with his singing in answer. i guess what im trying to say with that is, i believe the members' abilities will showcase themselves more when the right times comes. it could be because of personal reasons and growth or because they'd be more fit for the song and the emotions with the message they're trying to portray :) that being said, though jongho is clearly an amazing vocalist and brings out the intended emotion very well with his high notes, i hope he gets a little break from so many of them, especially in one song. i just hope he's (and kq) taking really good care of himself & his voice so he doesn't damage it and continues to do what he loves and grows as an artist and a person

I just found this out (and it’s literally been 9 months since this comment I’m so sorry), but this era Yeosang has so many lines bc he’s finally confident enough to take more lines. That’s why he had smaller parts before. As for everything else, I completely agree. Especially with Jongho. He’s literally just there to belt the notes and nothing else, and I’m worried about his vocal chords and you can tell he’s tired of it. That’s why he rarely gets any screen time, and it’s super annoying. Hongjoong is in charge of line distribution but I’m sure KQ has a say in it as well, and maybe that’s why? Idk. But I’d like to see him have more diversity. San also seems like he’s got a good vocal range, so if they could distribute vocals more, I’d love that. I’m tired of having to anticipate when I’m gonna see Jongho for anything other than the belt at the end

Jongho’s voice not in danger though. He knows what he’s doing and he has vocal coaches. There is this one youtuber who is a vocal coach and ranked ateez members based on their vocal abilities. He said that Jongho’s not risking or damaging hos voice while singing, even high notes. (I don’t remember the name of the youtuber sorry)

Honestly I completely agree, for some reason KQ feels the need to fix their positions really tight. I haven’t seen anyone else ever do high notes and while I understand that jongho is the strongest vocal others have proved that they are more than capable to carry some notes. I would love to see jongho sing in more diverse pitches as well as others get more balanced parts

Ok don't come for me- It really depends on where his back is hurting. Judging from the move he's doing, it's gonna be the muscles at the bottom of his back. I do ballet, and we have to do the the same thing repeatedly. It's not that bad an exertion. Like, idk. This really isn't that bad, and isn't worth much worry. There are worse pains you get from dancing, and compared to them this one goes away in a couple of minutes of you chill out. Obviously if he pushes himself to hard, he'll hurt himself worse. Sry for the rant I just felt like explaining sry!

Yes he does take care of himself. He just gives us his best performance so we can enjoy it. I understand that you worry he’ll hurt himself badly, but please don’t be so rude. In the end it’s for us he does that so don’t discredit his efforts, and he has doctors to take care of himself/his back/his muscles or whatever when he needs it. Don’t worry about it too much.
