Despite the crystal clear water and plenty of friendly manatees around, Florida's natural springs is also home to alligators!! So be very careful while going for a swim.

During the day they are mostly sunning themselves on the river banks. They do like to chill out at the bottom of lakes when boating traffic picks up. It's night time that you really need to stay out of the water in Florida. Salt or fresh that's when the predators come out to play. You can go to a lake in the day time and see a couple gators. Go to that same lake at night and shine a spotlight on it. You'll see hundreds of red eyes staring at you on the surface.
He's just chillin down there

The springs always stay at 70 or 72 degrees. They are not highly active in those temps. At Rainbow springs Park there is a beautiful place to swim. The bottom is blue and no one has ever been attracted there. The wild life reserves usually do a good job at trying to find any Gators that could have slipped into the springs. Most people who don't live here think it more dangerous than it is
I was tubing in one of Florida’s springs yesterday, we peacefully floated by a gator, about four feet, sunbathing at the bank. He was chill, my friends and I were chill, everything was good :)

I remember diving in one spring while family swam and snorkeled…. Watched an otter swim quickly from the river side, headed straight for the fam darting around between them… followed by a big gator. The gator eyed them and went and waited in some vegetation while I surfaced and called out to the family (who was super excited to see an otter so close, lol) to swim away from the reeds and closer to other people. Had kids in that group and didn’t need to see what happens when a gator mistakes a child for an otter.

I love the animal life especially the lizards they’re so awesome ! My buddy actually adopted a dwarf caiman from Miami springs he has it out here in Chicago turned his basement into a giant reptile home he takes care of them very well nothing but the best equipment and housing for the animals he has a few lizards and also a green tree python ! I’m starting to really get into reptiles thinking of getting a small monitor lizard
Alligators are more of a scavenger of small fish & animals. Your dog or cat might go missing, but unless you mess with their babies, nest, harass them or girlfriend when they are working during mating season… you really have no problem just being in same vicinity. Otherwise, people in FL & Louisiana wouldn’t be able to venture outside. 😂
That thing could bite my toe immediately 😭😭
They're amazing animals. The amount they can withstand to survive incredible.
Springs are COLD gators need heat to move. They are VERY docile in cold water. Now 2 foot deep 95 deg swamp water...oh boy!

That's not entirely true. If they see something that looks like prey, they will go after it.
