Whenever you take room in hotel or on rental basis first take photos of everything immediately after entering room. This helps u a lot especially in foreign countries.

We visited Singapore 3 times never had a problem. U must have kept hot dishes on the table..

It is not only for the tourists but also for everyone like us who stay in Singapore. The point everyone needs to understand is - you cannot get small things very easily in well developed countries like if you want to get a print outside, call some handyman for small repairs etc. Just imagine how much fines we will pay for damages who stays in fully furnished (most of the rentals in Singapore are fully furnished) rental houses for years. We might feel like it’s unfair but it is common in well developed countries and should be extra cautious when visiting such countries.

Hmm.. its Possible, One time , while vacating the house, charged the tenant for kitchen counter top damage showing we need to repair But for next new tenant, they have not repaired at all(we came to know because the old tenant and new tenant are friends)

You can consult some authority back there and they can help you. Also they might have insurance that will cover as well, They should have hard surface tables. Ya that is not right for charging you. In US they don't even bother for those and we won't have that cheap tables anyway.

You should request to replace instead of repair. Generally hotel's cost of furniture is higher than what you buy in the store. And they have a pricelist for each item in the building, otherwise... it is difficult to maintain the quality of the hotel.
