The judge paid your penalty for your sins. If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. @@benitoiiizambrano8149 The works that we do, we do from a position of gratefulness for the forgiveness and grace that Jesus showed us through his sacrifice. We are saved so that we can go forward and do good works. We are not saved through them. You will read that faith without works is dead, and this is not a contradiction. A true faith in Jesus should propel us to do good works. If you are not compelled to give up your sin, to also love and forgive others, then you have cause to question your faith. You should be constantly examining yourself to see where your faith lies. Ask yourself if you are growing in righteousness and if your heart is desiring more and more to go towards Jesus and his commandments and away from sin. Our own heart's ability to deceive itself is what is scary. That's why Paul says that we should work out our salvation with fear and trembling. It is a journey that BEGINS with faith. Through this faith, TODAY, you can be justified in the eyes of God, and you can spend a lifetime in the process of sanctification (day by day, step by step growing in righteousness THROUGH HIM and not of your own efforts). I hope this gives clarity and hope. I am no preacher, in my walk I have taken advantage of Jesus and his forgiveness over and over again. It is only recently that my disgust with myself has led me to a crossroads, and I am no longer sitting on the sidelines. There is not much time left, we must seek the Lord while He may be found. Most people never get to Jesus because they don't see a need. They believe themselves to be good. I am fortunate to know of myself that this is not the case. You can be saved by faith through grace this moment, then you go out and honor that faith by obeying Him.
