Greetings from Russia friend! No matter how hard it is, you can’t give up. Unless you're ready to look in the mirror and say you're a fucking coward and a weakling. But if you are not ready to raise the white flag and give up, then brace yourself and take heart. The fate of men has always been difficult, but before we had support from the community and older men. And at this time we are forced to fight one on one.

I went from living at my mums house with no girlfriend, no career and no money. In the last two years I have started a successful business, bought a house, met the love of my life and I have a baby on the way. I never thought I’d be in the position I’d be in, but I got there through persistence. Keep going guys, if I can do it, then you can do it too.

Realised this myself now at 24. Was in a relationship at a point in my life where everything was weighing me down (Health, unemployment etc.). I tried my best but didn't know how to properly solve my issues, so I leaned on my gf at the time. Whenever I felt down, I needed her to console me. Whenever I was lost, I needed her to make a decision. I gave away the power over my own life, and disrespectfully made her live two lives at once as she was made responsible for me. That relationship naturally ended, and being alone on my own for the first time in 5 years force fed me that lesson. One of the greatest lessons I've ever learned. I'm responsible for my own life, the life I want to lead and the person I want to become. Everyone else has their lives to take care of so it's not their job. If I want a specific life, it's up to me and me alone to create that. As you said wherever I am in life, I'm accountable for it. If circumstances are holding me back, change the circumstances. If I made a decision and failed at something, make the right decision and make it right. It's all on me, and that's empowering. Because if I let it happen, I'm in power to fix it. (Disclaimer: Life is not black and white though. Ask for help where help is needed. Ask for counseling if you need it. You deserve help just as much as you're willing to help others. But the heavy lifting is on you.)

I signed my first work contract at 13. Spent the next 5 years working logistics, hauling cargo across the continent. Still went to school in the meantime and eventually wound up in security, getting my licenses at 18 and graduating at 19. Month later i enrolled into Military service, did my mandatory time. Two years went by, Ukraine happened. Decided to re-enlist. Ended up getting promoted too. I wonder if i'll get a break any time soon.

Ironically, if you actually read Fences, Troy (father)'s sense of "duty" is strong, but heartless. Since he never actually "likes" Cory (son), it leads to continued conflict between them

Reminder that you don’t need to be a millionaire or be some type of ubermensch to be considered a “man”. A man is just an adult human male. Being an adult means taking care of your responsibilities no matter how humble.

Many people focus on "being a man" because it's a call to action against their own worst habits. Telling others to "man up" is just how they fight those bad parts of themselves. Most men these days don't care what "being a man" is and are better off for it. At the end of the day, the person who can trust themselves as well as others is accountable to themselves, and that allows them them happiness. It's not about facts or feelings, it's about being able to trust our own observations without just clumsily asserting our own needs. If you can't trust yourself, you inevitably end up needing to trust others more. When we suppress our trust, we end up trusting things regardless without getting to decide what we're trusting. Don't go that route. Find a hobby, become passionate about research, be it for your job, for artwork, or for anything else. As a side note about the kind of people who one shouldn't trust-- weirdly enough, people who don't listen sometimes like not being listened to, because it makes them feel like they don't need to be accountable for as much. So you might just earn their respect by keeping them at a healthy distance. Not that it's worth much overall.

I'm 16. I finally have a responsibility in my life for the safety of my fiancé and our soon to be child. I think life is a precious gift and this is a reminder to anyone out there who is struggling. A few months ago I was $uicidal on the verge of ending it all and I was one phone call and a 2 minute walk away from being gone forever. This is a reminder to you that u could be just a few months away from finding the love of your life getting engaged and having a child. My one piece of advice although I am young is to keep going.
