BCS 948 Rotary Plow breaking new ground #2

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Dailey's Farm & Walk-Behind Tractors breaking ground with an older BCS 948 Tractor and swivel rotary plow. We already have 1 video on breaking ground with a rotary plow, however in that video from some years back, we did NOT capture the very 1st pass on the video. So, since I had a personal need to prepare some new garden beds, this was a good time to show plowing with BCS tractor and rotary plow from the very beginning. Notice one of my sons placed a white post in the ground about 100' away before I started my 1st pass. I used this to "sight" on and keep my first pass straight. Starting with a straight first "trench/furrow" really helps all further plowing as 1 of the tractor tires always uses the trench/furrow to make the next pass. Something to note... is that I am running the swivel rotary plow, but breaking ground as if I am running the single rotary plow. Reason being, I had a consignment sale rotary plow that needed testing AND 1 of the blades on the left plow share on this swivel plow was badly bent, which is why we only used the right plow share for 99% of the video. Toward the very end if you notice the tractor shaking a bit, it was due to running the left plow share to finish the last couple of feet on the uphill side of the bed. Thanks for watching! Any comments or questions, post them here or email us.

Must you lock the differential while using the rotary plow?

Those rotary plows are a beast, quite suprising the amount of work it and its operator can accomplish vs the cost of the big tractors or the labor involved with hand tools. And that's not even the best tractor to put it on.

Thanks for that. But surely the whole point of that type of plow is that it can flip at the end and you can walk back up the same path.

Hi Thanks for the comment. If you read the text description of the video you will understand why I did not use the lever to "flip" the soil the other direction.
