I think I may return it to BCA. The problems stem from the factory/gun not the ammo, scope or the shooter. I'm sure BCA will send a return label, repair and send it back to him. Just out of curiosity have you or John taken the stock off to check to see if the barrel V block is loose. This can make accuracy wonder around and if the barrel is slightly away from the reciever it make the length of travel for the firing pin longer which can result in light strikes

I think the trigger is the problem could be the trigger isn't fully igniting the powder fully. Which is why the accuracy is all over the place.

Interesting. Is that really a thing? If it ignites then it ignites, no? I know different primers in centerfire rifles can affect accuracy, but never heard of the strength of the hammer/firing pin stike causing any differences?

@@BuckeyeBallisticsWell since rim fire ammo is more pressure sensitive it could be the rounds are acting slightly delayed. Maybe the trigger pack they’re using is striking too light. The firing pin has to dent the rim and have enough energy to make the priming compound go off.

I know, but if it goes off then that means there was enough energy. The delayed thing makes sense, if it's occuring. But even if that was a thing, I would think it would cause up and down strings of inaccuracy from the different velocities that would result from this, not left and right stringing as well. I mean the thing is grouping 1.5" circle groups at 50 yards- I don't see how that would be the firing pin or a delay that is so short that it's unmeasureable to the human senses. I mean you could be right, I don't know- but it sounds like we are both just speculating. I know I am, because I have no clue what is causing the accuracy issues. Even funnier, BCA said it was fine when he got it back lol.

@@BuckeyeBallistics I'm speculating as well and I agree with you there's something goofy going on. BCA is full of it. If its not light primer strikes its the barrel maybe there are some burrs in the barrel you could try polishing it to see if that would help with accuracy. You could also switch the barrel out but I don't know if y'all want to throw more money at the problem.

Something isnt quite right.. seems to really worsen as it heats up... Im not an accuracy guy so im not sure what it means when the groups start to open as heat increases. I have an old rem 121 pump action with tens of thousands of rounds that would shoot circles around that.... So obviously something aint right. Should be a good barell... So maybe the fitment between the barell and reciever is off. Thats my best guess. Not sure if that could cause light primer strikes if the fitment is off... Not sure how youd check if the barell is set too far out. Please let us know and keep us updated. Love the channel!

Well typically when accuracy suffers after a barrel heats up, it's due to the barrel microscopically warping/deforming from the heat and thus throwing the shots. This is really prevalant in centerfire rifles with skinny barrels, which is why usually companies that produce centerfire hunting rifles that offer an accuracy garuntee, the garuntee is only for the first 3 shots from a cold barrel. But this usually isn't a problem in rimfire (especially with subsonic match grade .22lr ammo), until many shots have been fired consecutively with no cooldown in-between. However, this is the purpose of a thick bull barrel- so that the barrel doesn't heat up/twist and affect accuracy. So with this rifle having the bull barrel and the gun being shot slowly with low velocity rimfire ammunition, it's not heating up. So, I'm not quite sure what the issue is...

Something is definitely wrong, it's a bull barrel .22, you could run 100 rounds through it and it wouldn't be noticeably warm

That gun needs to go back to factory for an extended stay

Don't blame both of you for being aggravated for the price of an upgrade that isn't upgraded quality. But I'm betting Boom laughed & said I told you it wasn't just me! Light strikes are a really big issue. Appreciate your time guys. 🎯👍🙏

I mean I'd say at least under 1 inch groups 90% of the time for match grade ammo at 50 yards, even if it's only .800-.900. Not sure how much I should expect from a $340 rifle, but with it sporting a "match grade bull barrel and 11 degree target crown," I certainly expect sub 1" groups at 50 with the high end ammo...

@BuckeyeBallistics shooting my Rem.597 at 100 and getting a 1" group has me expecting a lot more from rifles set up like that. I think the 597 sells for right around 200! Hopefully they hook him up with a different rifle that works the way you'd expect!

@BuckeyeBallistics not every group, but it will get there if I do my part. Trying some SK Standard Plus, it seems to do better than the CCI Standard Velocity. I was happy with the CCI outside of the fliers!😅

I think I would try more types of ammo before making a decision.

As far as I can tell it's fine but it's in the video towards the end if you want to see for yourself. And I know how it is trying to watch youtube while cooking lol, I do it all the time. You don't get to watch so much as you do listen so I understand.

Um I don't believe that's a true solid ss bull barrel I bet that has a rifled sleeve in it the reason I say that when it heats up it falls apart.
