I picked up a Pro-X Mockingbird at the local pawnshop last week for $345 with a hardcase (steal). It is the satin black model with gold hardware and gold binding. It has a Floyd 1000 and the EMG 81/85 active pickup set. At first I didn't like playing it sitting down (standing was fine). It took me a solid week before I got used to it sitting down. It just always wanted to slide or fall off of my lap. Now I wear a strap even while sitting and I have gotten used to it. I love this guitar now. :D

Killer Model, basically a Neck Through Les Paul (22 Frets and Switch Position like on a LP) with Ebony Fretboard.

Andy Stevens and 24 3/4 scale leangth. (Almost) its actually5/8s but whos counting? Still a lot closer than the normal 25 1/2 scale you find on most bc riches

Found one at a pawn shop. It was really dirty, missing strings, tarnished frets, and fretboard was caked with dirt. After four hours of cleaning (polishing frets, cleaned fretboard, and polished body and hardware, it looks new. Plays super smooth with low action and no fret buzz. Love this guitar!!

I have one from way back, 2005/06. I dont remember specifically. Anyway, these guitars hold up over time. It really is a good guitar at any price the finish is pretty, the rockfeild pickups are so amazing. Its the only sub $1000 guitar i own that i didnt change the pus. (Well my danelectro too). I think what makes em so cheap is the multiple pieces of wood. Mine has a 3 piece neck with 3 piece wings on each side. It is mahogany but not the solid 2 piece you usually see in high end. Also the topis just a veneere not a solid piece of wood.but its all made on cnc so country origin really is obsolete in this case. The hardware is all medium- high qulity. Tone pros locking bridge and saddle. Grover tuners. Rockfeild pickups. Its a steal of a guitar if you find a used one. I see them regularly on reverb. Mine still has a long time left with me before i consider parting ways.

I just bought one of these that came with BC Rich pickups. Why does that one have Rockfields?

I have a 2010 LP Traditional and I have this BC Rich Special X in Ebony, I actually prefer to play the BC Rich. It's lighter, more comfortable to play sitting or standing with a strap, has a great sound and very similar controls. The Gib is nice but just seems like they fell short in the $1500 price range on build and finish compared to how well made this one is in the $600 price range.

I have a red version of this model and the only comparison I could make is Les Paul.

Same guitar that John McEntee from Incantation uses.

Have one but pickups are quite weak I think,... Musicans friend buy at 500.00 will probably put a tone zone pickup in it

Just switch the pups for a seymour duncan JB/Jazz or a good ole solid bare knuckles. And you're good to go! 😎🤘🎸🔥

I always found most BC rich guitars to be too... brash and obscene. Like a gremilin car was. Different, but too ugly to look at after the newness wears off. This design, however, is not so bad. They added enough curviness to give it just enough class. It does feel like the body is 'italicized' if that makes any sense, like the original body design was skewed., which does bother me a bit. Like fancy cursive fonts bother me xD I dunno, maybe i'm weird. Nice looking guitar for a bc rich tho, i can get why some people love them. I do wonder tho how many drunken nights with a bc rich have resulted in lost eyes.

Masterpiece has a bolt-on neck and rosewood fingerwood. The Special X has neck through and ebony fingerboard. Special X is better ;)
