Allen, Have you ever considered selling DYI kits or even parts such as wheels, fire boxes or the squared up door kits. Then a person could weld up the kit themselves once they receive the kit, perfect for the person who doesn't have enough time to built a grill or smoker from the beginning.

That is a great idea. He could call it his WIY range. Weld It Yourself from a kit. Blokes who are into BBQ or Smokers and who can also weld but lack the time and or tools to do some of the fancier fabrication would buy the kits and other people would be interested in buying various parts. Certainly worth looking into.

I’d buy a fire box in a heartbeat!! I’m about to start my first build doing a 55 gal drum reverse flow and not looking forward to building a fire box since my welding skills are novice at best.

I prefer flat-topped fireboxes because you can warm or cook stuff there. Just don't set your beer there.

Great rebuild. What are the dimensions of those new wheels and the old wheels. That sure gave the smoker a more modern look, especially with the new design of the door. I wish I lived somewhere close to you so I could order a smoker. Unfortunately I live in CA.

I'm gonna give it a try and build one, already have the metal and a friend is lending me some tools, a cutter and welding machine, I was thinking of installing the fire box under the horizontal smoker, I've had vertical and offset smokers, but I think and undermount Firebox would heat the smoke House more evenly, and I rather like the larger racks, what do you think ?

Looks harder to clean 1 up and vet it ready for a rebuild than it does just building a new 1 but if ya crank up that heater in ya shop on a cold wet winter day maybe ya wouldn't have the sniffles lol just saying brother great job hope you and ya family have a great holiday season

Ok so as im new to this scene. Well really just learning and reading and watching vids. I am trying to understand by smaller smokers use electricity and propane to heat. But all the bigger sized ones use coal/wood. Wouldnt propane give you a better even heat, or would it just take too much propane to cook anything ?

I prefer flat-topped fireboxes because you can warm or cook stuff there. Just don't set your beer there.
