fun fact: I was born without an uvula so when I was first born, I was in the hospital for a while, and the doctor's had one made for me. But since it was man-made, it never grew with me, so I have a little 'v' shape at the back of my throat. okay that wasn't really a fun fact, but I thought I should share since I'm watching back old vlogs and you guys were talking about uvulas... :b

Loving Tanya takes her first mouthful from the yoghurt and you see it hanging off the spoon the camera moves away and you can hear her go "Oh no, I've spilt it on me already" xD Love you Tanya!

Honestly Tan is the nicest person. It's her birthday eve and she does facials for everyone!!

towns in the UK differ so much from towns in the US! Every town there appears like it has nice little streets with shops you can walk through and shop in, seems so lovely!

It's pronounced you-view-luh and its main function is to work with the soft palate to block the nasal passage when you swallow (so you don't breathe and swallow at the same time). It is also used in some languages to produce guttural consonants, like the french "r" (when you pronounce Paris like the french do). Yes, I'm a nerd and proud of it! :)

It's a Uvula (you-view-la)! A remnant of fetal development if I remember correctly. Uvulapalatopharyngoplasty (you-view-la-pal-atto-fair-ingo-plasty) is for obstructive sleep apnea not caused by obesity! Hope that helps! -Dr. Braly (uh oh, I've put on my doctor's cap)

Actually, the uvula is for separation of the digestive and respiratory system. When food is in danger of getting into the respiratory system, it erects itself and closes the nasal opening in the back of your throat. This way, when you swallow, the food doesn't go up your nose all the time, and when you throw up, bolus doesn't come rushing out of your nose.

rockinstrawberries Actually, the epiglottis is what protects the bolus of food when swallowing from passing into the trachea and causing aspiration. The uvula, you're right though, does have a small function in helping to close off the nasopharynx and preventing regurgitation thru the nose. It is still formed as a remnant of fetal development. It's what in large part contributes to your gag reflex, innervated by the Vagus nerve. :) I'm an anesthesiologist, I stare at uvulae and epiglotti all day long! :)

Naomie is one of the most beautifulst people i've ever seen.
