I don't know, why they didn't focus on the male soprano classical soloist Radu Marian, in this documentary. They showed, Jimmy Scott, who has a beautiful voice. Just like Scott, Radu Marian also has Kellman's syndrome, thus his voice never broke, and he also technically has a castrato instrument, and the style is very similar. He has performed operatic pieces including, Rossini's Crucifixus which Alessandro Moreschi performed in 1904. Unlike Moreschi, Marian's style sounds pure as well as clear, he's a natural soprano; and his style could possibly give us a certain idea of how 18th century operatic castrato would sound like.

Radu Marian may probably be the closest we can get to a castrato voice. His voice is bright and angelic just like the soprano voice of a young boy but more firm and controlled.

Stunning! Thanks
Just let the Lady singer sing everything. I know that the falsetto guy works very very hard, but his voice has a sour quality. She just nails it.
So, what are the odds any of the other great apes might have laryngeal anatomy naturally similar to or exactly like that of the castroti? So basically we would just need to teach some apes to sing opera. ...you gotta admit itd be pretty awesome to see an orangutan and gorilla duet at the Met. Tuxedos and everything. Definitely could use chimps... they're clearly the bad boys of the great apes.

Dont forget about those bonobos
So why did the Opera houses stop using them? But the church continued to? I thought both would have used them for as long as they could have.

The "ban" on women singing in Church began to relax, starting in the Protestant world. Listen the Barrister here, the lady in the sport coat. Her voice has power, richness and gravitas. While the "castrato" is interesting, it is not part of our time. She is part of our time, and she does a great job.
What is the song at 2:54?
Just google Dimash Kudaibergen I believe he is the closest to a castrate voice without actually being castrated, and has not only the high voice but also many others!!

Actually, you may be quite accurate
Great documentary! They will never be able to duplicate A true Castrato with computers, for which I'm grateful. God created vocal cords, men created computers. God will always retain His power, majesty, and mysteries. Men will never be equal to Him.

Well God didn’t create Castratos, man did which is pretty cruel just saying
I so wish they performed as a quartet. They had the 4 human voices, and breath, which was recorded and synthesized. Argh.... I'd love to have heard it.
'Gli Fratelli Broschi' I love Baroque opera. What a fascinating documentary! Many thanks for providing it!
Sublime.
And this is when the operatic section comes in..... xD
Listen to Andrew Deleon.
It's actually really pretty, the story behind it is the only thing that's spooky
Does anyone know the song that was sung towards the end?
