So glad Wimbledon arranged this tribute to Jana. She was one of my favourite tennis players along with Steffi when I was a teenager. I think a lot of people even beyond tennis fans would have shed a tear or had a heavy heart when they heard about her passing. Such a sad ending to what was one of the most uplifting sporting justices of the time when she won Wimbledon in 1998. Your name Jana will ALWAYS be engraved on that Rosewater dish even now that you are gone xx

Jana hasn't gone : she has just moved to a better world. Anyway, I went to the All England Club Stadium, one week before the tournament, just to leave a bouquet in her loving memory. The museum staff promised me to put it in the ladies'room.

Agree jana hasn't gone, and she will certainly never be forgotten. that's so lovely leaving a bouquet in her memory. I was at Wimbledon this year, and my dream was to see jana play, it makes me sad to know that will not happen now, however her presence will live on at Wimbledon

as a believer (with just or wrong cause), I am sure Jana is wonderfully happy now, and looks on us with smile and tenderness, waiting for us to grant us a warm welcome when we join her. Till then, I will come back to Wimbledon every year to give her a floral tribute. Sweet Jana...

I still get emotional when I see that footage of Jana. There will never be another player like her. She showed us resiliency and perseverance. If you get knocked down 20 times, then you get up 21. The last of the serve and volleyers and one of the best to be sure. She should've had another 30+ years, but she made the most of the time she did have. Now that is a legacy.

To that end, the way she described Jana's 1993 loss in the video, that she lost "to the Wimbledon final, and not so much Steffi" will stay with me. And I remember Jana's 1998 win live as well; what a great sports story her career arc was, especially at Wimbledon.

This song gives tribute to Jana Novotna and her victory at Wimbledon in 1998, throwing her so sad memories of 1993 and 1997 into oblivion. With this victory, on a mystic Centre court where the grass is growing green and where she so much deserved to win, she drew level with the greatest champions and legends. Her dream became reality, and this amazing reality remained an immortal memory, portrayed by those beautiful pics of her holding this shiny silver salver forever, after hugging her coach Hana Mandlikova and her beloved mum in the tribune. Now, she’s gone to the Land of Eternal Youth (“Tír na n Óg”, in Irish). Another mystic place where the grass is also growing green, but that no one else has seen. I am sure that, when Jana closed her (so nice) eyes for the last time, she saw herself back on the Wimbledon Centre Court, on this unforgettable Saturday the 4h of July 1998, with the Venus Rosewaters Dish in her hands. A trophy handed by the Duchess of Kent, who had so warm-heartedly consoled her five years before. This song is inspired by an Irish melancholic tune : “Uncle Nobby’s steamboat”, using the image of a pleasant trip aboard a steamboat to symbolize the passing from this world to Eternity. You will find the melody on this link : kzread.info/dash/bejne/o2eTyK2ff6nKnpc.html I advise you to read the poem, listening to the musicSONG :Come for a trip on Centre court of Wimbledon Where you can hide your worries by a victory And you'll draw level with Champions and Legends And hide your sad memories for everAnd you're going where the grass is growing green To a mystic court where you deserved to win Where oblivion takes the mind's reality And reality fades into a memory Your beloved mum gives a smile in the tribune to hug you Hana by her side with her arms opened to congratulate youThen you go down, the silver salver is there and shinyFull joy ahead you're ready for to go And you're going where the grass is growing green To a mystic court where you deserved to win Where oblivion takes the mind's reality And reality fades into a memory Bring on the dancing girl the show is now in motion The Duchess has come this time to congratulate youYou’re like a nice fairy raising a magnificent trophy Sweet Jana, you’re at last in commandAnd you're going where the grass is growing green To a mystic court where you deserved to win Where oblivion takes the mind's reality And reality fades into a memoryNow you’re off to Tír na n óg, the God of love has called youYou’re like a new star shining in the beautiful twilightThe sky welcomes you in a twinkling mystic vision The shamrock lies a-mourning in your graveAnd you're going where the grass is growing green To a mystic land that no one else has seen Where oblivion takes the mind's reality And reality fades into a memory

Jana Novotná was wonderful. She was from Eastern part of Czechia called Moravia. Moravian women are very kind and polite. It was wonderful to see re~born Jana Novotná, because she was obviously "INSIDE" our Barbora Krejčíková during French Open 2021, because Barbora has won the title by using Jana Novotná's tennis technique / Jana's typical very wide backswing /. My quardian tennis angel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida was Mr. Jimmy Evert, his character and character of his daughter Chris reminds me very much of Jana Novotná's wonderful character. For us Czechs is really splendid to see, that Jana Novotná continues to live inside Bára Krejčíková ... Very very positive phenomenom, which has just been brougt back to WTA matches by Krejčíková = Novotná is NO NOISE TENNIS !!! 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍

Aw, when I I saw this KZread video, about two years back, I did not know Jana had passed. What a sad feeling I felt - I greatly recall her Wimbledon ladies finals in 1993 and 1998. Jana's crying on the shoulder of the Duchess gave a good many of us a tear or two - and her triumphant victory five years later made us all smile. How fitting that this very same Duchess of Kent was on hand to congratulate Jana (with the winner's trophy) on that happy day, when she won the Wimbledon ladies singles title. May I add, that the lovely Katherine, Duchess of Kent (at this writing) is now 89 years old and still going quite strong. Cheers to her from Canada!

Jana being embraced by the Duchess of Kent is such a poignant memory from Wimbledon. Both are beautiful and compassionate souls. RIP Champ. ♥️

Off topic in a way but I love their comments on Simona Halep at the end, this is a year before her wimbledon title. You can see the respect for her game and work from two greats and a very knowledgeable Sue Barker.

I remember supporting Graf in the first match. I was a kid at that time. Looking back if I knew tennis as much as today I would have supported Jana
