BBC Nine'o'clock News 7 May 1999
Here is (most of) the last BBC Nine'o'clock News before it was redesigned. Presented by Peter Sissons and Michael Buerk (in Edinburgh). John Pienaar reports on the Scottish results, and BBC Scotland Political editor Brian Taylor has commentary.
Wyre Davies has the Welsh Assembly results, with assistance from Glyn Mathias. Robin Oakley covers the local elections.
Preceded by a trail for 'Tourist Trouble'.

"Reesed in the sea fog they call the Haar" is a brilliant line you'd never get today.
0:37 The perfect Nine O'Clock News, with Peter Sissons (1:07, R.I.P.) and Michael Buerk presenting it together
Pity the graphics that start at 1:28 weren't played in full one last time (unless it was used on the weekend bulletins on 8th and 9th May?)

I can’t for the life of me figure out why Labour wouldn’t want to join a collation with the snp
They should have stuck with this type of music IMO.

Same, in my opinion, the music feels more like a theme song for a medical show

And then they got the SNP!
England Has No Parliament
Burke was happy enough to be away from that gloomy studio, but should have reverted to the studio after the theme tune and not to Burke at the beginning.
