A camerawoman harassed him with a camera after was agreed they would not film him. He asked her to stop several times but she didnt so frustrated he moved his arm but she wasnt touched. He has to ho she can stay. World upside down. This happened after the second semi finale

He is suspected of a crime and thus should not be allowed to participate. I would say, end this ESC thing now. It has gone to far with the political circus acts during the last few years. Let the LBTQ... run their own show with circus acts in the future, it's not a music competition anymore so best thing is to end the ESC at this moment.

Joost has not been arrested, there was no violence and the prosecutor is not in any hurry (could take weeks). Nevertheless, the EBU has both convicted and punished Joost. No more Eurovision for me this year, sadly.

It would take a rather serious crime in the northern Europe to arrest the guy. Many organizations and companies do act swiftly though, which I generally find unfair. On this case I don't really mind to be honest, since he clearly showed he has no respect towards others, with the stunt in the press conference & didn't give a crap about the extremely clear rule, about political stunts during the competition. Song was nice though. But Joost himself is really the only reason, why we aren't going to hear it tonight.

I'm Dutch. I am completely astonished!!! At Dutch media we heard that Joost made a "movement" at a filmer, while we know he doesn't liked to be filmed after his has sung.

The Dutch Television talked the last argument from EBU, why Joost is diskwalified: last thursday he made a movement at someone who filmed him, something he didn't liked that at that moment (i guess because of the dead of his father/the last part of his song). After several times saying "i don't want to be filmed" he made a movement. Cornald Maas, the Dutch commentator, said it was a minor thing and the EBU acted disproportionally. I beleive this man. He's been presenting the ESC for many, many years and is known for his integrety and honesty. The fact that the Dutch broadcaster openly attacks the decision of the EBU also speaks volumes to me. This could be the end of the contest. Everybody can claim impropriate behavior now...

It was promised that Joost Klein would not be filmed after the performance. And a Swedish camera woman did that anyway. Joost asked her 3 times not to film him but she kept going. Joost then made a feint movement but nothing happened, he did not touch her. For this reason the Netherlands has been disqualified.

Genocide is not a problem, but making a comment to a production employee is a crime. They are quite off track there at the EBU.

Yes, you are right, if he has done something really wrong then it is okay to take measures, but the Avro Tros man Conrald Maas has spoken and this is what he said: Joost Klein has been disqualified. Long live the Eurovision Song Contest, so not.' He goes on to say that the incident has nothing to do with Israel. No physical violence was applied, he simply got booted for "a motion towards the (illicitly) running camera". This sounds insane, he definitely should press charges for harassment, libel and defamation.

As usual, no French media talks about it, just like they don't talk about anything concerning Eurovision. The French media have been boycotting Eurovision for years and this shameful edition proves them right!

Splendid shot. @O:15 summarises the event. Joost Klein repeatedly asked to stop filming his emotional mood at the end of the song. He pushed down the camera of the woman who ignored his request. So who didn't respect?

By now we know what happened and disqualification is disgraceful. There was an agreement that no photos would be made of Joost during rehearsal. A photographer did this nonetheless. Joost made a gesture and that freaked the lady out. The lady also called him bambi, referring to his dead parents. Yeah, that would light me up as well. And for that gesture, Joost is disqualified. What a vile action by ESC. I hope the fans trash the place up. Shouting Europapa and the chorus for 4 hours long. Booing and whistling. I hope the show turns into a fiasco.

I think the gesture the reporter made in the beginning toward the person doing her hair might have been worse than the one Joost Klein allegedly made toward a photographer, for which he was disqualified.

So what happened is that Joost was filmed after his act on Thursday. Was agreed up front that he wouldn’t be filmed, but it happened anyway. He reiterated that he didn’t want to be filmed. What got him disqualified is that he made a threatening gesture but didn’t get physical.

Joost asked the camerawoman several times not to film him when he went to the greenroom after his performance. She did not stop filming and he just made a gesture. He did not touch her. ESC should punnish the camerawoman instead of Joost.

Netherlands is a big Ukraine supporter. why get exited about football? Getting wound up about small shit does not mean you ignore the rest. If Ukraine falls we are all in deep trouble.

So far as I get the story, after repeating multiple times that he didn't want to be filmed after the performance (emotional part for him), the camerawoman kept filming him. One says that he made a gesture (threatening) towards the camera, other says he pushed the camera (mobile phone) down. Now he gets disqualified, why doesn't she get fired for harassing and NOT complying to requests from him!? This is BS to the max!

Way out of proportion to DQ the Netherlands

I grew up from basically the start of Eurovision song contest and as a family we all watched it every year. However for over a decade or so now this 'Song' cometition has become a 'Political Farce' in the voting process. This 'Political Circus' should now be scrapped completely. EBU should be more transparent what exactly happened. They just commented that the camerawomans' pov is really different than Joost version. But WHAT is different exactly? There are so many cameras, the camera of that woman should have recorded it clearly. Show us what is on it?? It shouldn 't be so difficult. And it could have been dealt with a lot faster. The Eurovision Songcontest has lost the meaning of uniting.

I wonder, the camerawoman actually started with unwanted intimidation by filming and who then already violated the rules of the EBU and was asked several times to stop filming by the artist. Was she the one while the EBU had already agreed that no one would be filmed after their performance for privacy reasons. In a later video (backstage) this happened again at Joost Klein by a male cameraman (He Joost why where u not on the stage) and again in the heavily secured hotel where no press is allowed inside by a lady with a camera Swedish reporter (before he gets into the elevator). This did not happen to the other artists because the EBU did not allow it, very strange. (no report was made by the camera woman, so why a police investigation). Very strange.

A Swedish photographer was filming him, which he did not want. He set his boundaries multiple times and kept telling her that he did not want to be filmed. After a while he made a ‘threatening gesture’, which was allegedly him pushing the camera downwards, so he did not hit nor touch her. This led to her reporting him.

@@Linda-is6nr in the netherland we actually had a update. So turns out they had a arangemeny that he would not be filmed after he left the stage untill he was in the green room. The woman keeped filming him while heb told her to stop multiple times. So he made a treatning movement by turning her phone down so she couldnt film him
