Labour has sought to play down shadow chancellor Ed Balls' apparent inability to remember the name of the party's small business task force leader.
In an interview with BBC Newsnight, he described Bill Thomas, appointed by the party to review support for small businesses, as simply "Bill" and when pressed could not give his surname.
