fantastic video thanks so much for sharing LOVE these so much. So sad when the poop hit the fan with Rolf Harris, I , like so many kids, absolutely adored that man growing up.

Well disappointing as it was it doesn’t change the fact he was such a talented individual, I loved watching his stuff growing up as well. I’m still happy I learned a lot from his books and shows.

1994 would be the last year Bruce would host the Generation Game - he had a row with the BBC over his new contract, wanting a lot more money, which the BBC were unwilling to pay, so like 1978 he ran off to ITV.

It was nothing to do with money actually - he was unhappy with the BBC scheduling his shows in poor timeslots (one year against Coronation Street), and felt they were paying less attention to light entertainment. He said the final straw was when they moved Generation Game from Christmas Day to Christmas Eve, he goes on about it in his autobiography

@@staffordahoy679 That is Bruce's side of the story, which of course in an autobiography will portray it that way to make himself look good. Reality was money and Alan Yentob spoke how Bruce came to him demanding a higher salary for a new contract. They saw how cheaper Jim Davidson was when he guest hosted the show, and how popular Jim was with the audience and viewers, that Bruce's demand would never be met. Please remember, Bruce liked to have the PR game of where his story is only the truth.
