I know we won number 6 in madrid but for me this was the final, I've watched our game against barca 10 times more than the actual final. It was incredible, unforgettable and gave me memorys to last a lifetime. Gini's 3rd goal was special, that's when everyone knew, we've done it. What a club!

This commentary is astonishing. So much for unbiased pundits. I think that night even the professionals were just swept away by the atmosphere. Shearer sounds like he wants to cry at times...

I'm an American so I don't know much about European football, and I'm entirely neutral on it. But I have learned this, European Nights at Anfield, there is just something magical about that place.

Listening April 20 for the 50th time during quarantine

I had to work that night and finished at around 9pm. I checked the score on my phone as I left work. My hopes weren't high. Great we were 1-0 up at half time. I got in the car and drove the twenty minute journey home with Radio 5 Live on listening to this brilliant commentary from Ian Dennis. I promise you I nearly crashed the car twice as Wijnaldum's goals went in. I'm so pleased I got back in time to watch with both of my boys the last 20 minutes of the greatest ever night at Anfield and Origi's unbelievable winner as TA-A caught the Barca players napping. WOW!

As a Liverpool fan I think this is one of the best pieces of football commentary I have ever heard..and both Ian Dennis and Alan Shearer deserve my respect.

Listening to this again in 2024 - I had tears in my eyes when the ref blew the final whistle. Been a fan since 1969 - and this was the Reds finest hour.. What a match, what a team, what a club and what a ground. YNWA..

5 years and i’m still in tears

I still tear up with emotions today listening to this. My greatest ever moment supporting Liverpool in 30+ years.

wow. just wow. shearer was brilliant as a co comm, especially considering he's a geordie with no LFC connection. Radio sometimes brings the atmosphere out like TV can never do
