    Just came here to say I forgot this video was 150cc and in my memory made it 200cc so I spent a solid 90 minutes the other day just repeatedly trying and failing to execute the shortcut in 150cc on the assumption that it could be done but that I'd have to figure it out myself. Cut to browsing through your videos today to kill some time and seeing this was 150cc... I am going to have to go back and try to do it properly now that I've been reminded that you do indeed walkthrough the 150cc version of it! Great vid, keep it up!

    Hey, Bayesic! In your response to my comment on your Bowser's Castle tutorial about this short cut, you said you weren't planning to do a break-down of this track until next year. I'm glad you changed your mind because I'm SICK OF FALLING OFF THERE!! :) As a side note, Bowser's castle was part 15, SNES RR was part 38 and this current video is part 35. I know I'm missing something here...P.S. Good job as always.

    Yeah the ordering is like if you were to do a 48 track run starting on Mario Kart Stadium what order would the tracks appear in lol... it'll all make sense in a year when all these videos are actually done xD And I wasn't planning on getting to Dragon Driftway until next year, but then the league I'm in decided to spotlight individual racers in the group to pick the time trials, and since I make all the tutorials, they decided to spotlight me for the season finals. This shortcut was the first legitimately advanced thing I ever learned how to do and I really, REALLY wanted to make this video haha Glad you enjoyed it :-)

    Oh sweet!!! And I desperately wanted to learn how to do the NISC here! Btw, when first starting out on time trials to learn all the driving techniques and strats, should I start in the game's natural order of tracks (Mushroom Cup to Special Cup, then Shell Cup to Lightning Cup, etc) or just pick whichever feels the easiest for me?

  • @Bayesic

    @Bayesic

    2 жыл бұрын

    You can kind of do whatever works for you. The way I did it was kind of like how you described (i.e. get good at Mushroom through Special, then Shell through lightning, then Egg through Bell), and I just practiced by doing speedruns

    This shortcut is difficult to learn but I gotta admit that it is very consistent! When you know how to do it (believe it took me a week of training) you will be able to pull of that shortcut easily, and if I failed it I do know what went wrong. For me this shortcut is the most rewarding one to learn. This is really in stark contract to the shy guy falls shortcut ... I really gave up to do that shortcut consistently (I sometimes manage to successfully clear that shortcut, but I can never tell whether it was luck or skill).

    Awesome as always! I was wondering if you might do a general tips video for online play at some point? I have a theory that for online play the 'tryhard' builds might not actually be the best to use - I get that they're ideal for time trials, but when there's so much chaos always going on in online play, wouldn't you want something that's slightly more all rounder to help deal with any situation?

    I can suggest to you a combo that is pretto balanced and i used for quite a bit, us wario/skelobowser with the scooty or biddybuggy, this combo is a little bit slower than wiggler but it has more acceleration so if you are getting hit you can get back to speed more quickly, also it has the same weight as walu wiggler Try it if you want and let me know (Edit: i made a mistake :))

    My argument would be that for time trials, there's really not much going on in time trials that *requires* specific builds, with the obvious exception being baby builds. So imo if a build is best for time trials, it's generally going to be good for online play as well All that being said, like you mentioned, unless you're specifically trying to find a shit build, you can pretty much use whatever you want and be successful Also I'll probably make a general tips and tricks for racing online / item management video at some point, maybe in a month or two

    What does coins do in time trial, is it just to make sure to take a good line?

  • @Bayesic

    @Bayesic

    Each coin increases your speed by a little over half a percent (up to a max of 10 coins). When you have 10 you're saving about 4 seconds for every minute of driving, so pretty impactful

    For me I can only do the shortcut 50% of the time in time trials, I'm having a hard time of finding a consistent way of actually clearing the gap since sometimes I'll just go too far to the left and hop off the gold plate or my turn will be too tight and I ram against the wall. Any tips for this please?

  • @Bayesic

    @Bayesic

    6 ай бұрын

    If you follow the setup exactly then as long as you’re able to avoid the wall you should be able to clear the gap without too many problems. As for how to actually do that unfortunately it’s just muscle memory and you’re gonna have to practice
