Sintang bayan namin, giliw naming Bauan,
Matamis na bunga ng pagmamahalan
Ng Lawa ng Bombon at Look-Batangan,
Pagpalain nawa, ikaw ng Maykapal!
Sa timog Batangas ika'y hiyas-dagat,
May kislap ng ngayon at sinag ng bukas,
Luha nami't pawis, layunin pangarap
Ay handog sa iyong, ganap na pag-unlad.
Ang kasaysayaan mo, giliw naming Bayan,
Kung baga sa saga'y may dalawang kulay,
Itim ang anino niyong Kamatayan
At pula ang sinag ng Muling Pagsilang.
Itim pulang tatak, niyong kagitingan,
Sa Kamatayan may ayaw pasasaklaw;
Ilan ka nang ulit na halos maparam,

BAUAN: BAYANG WALANG MALIW
(Bauan, the Town that Refuses to Die)
In order to provide a spiritual rallying point of unity and loyalty for Batangueños everywhere, the Council of Elders, in association with the Sangguniang Bayan of Bauan, decided at ita monthly meeting in July, 1977 that this town should have an official anthem which would also form part of the community's cultural heritage.
To carry out the proposal, the Municipal Mayor, Atty. Bienvenido C. Castillo, appointed a committee with Mr. Eugenio C. Ingco, Chairman and Mr. Alfonso M. Casapao as co-chairman. The project had two phases: Phase One - Anthem in Search of a Writer, and Phase Two - Lyrics in Search of a Composer.
Under Phase One a contest to write the lyrics based on the theme, "Bauan, the Town that Refuses to Die," was held from July 15 to August 31, 1977. Open to Bauangueños and non-Bauangueños alike, it carried a cash prize of Five Hundred Pesos Four of the five judges (one abstained), chosen from a list of known writers in, or traction of, Pilipi- no in Bauan and Batangas City, chose "Bauan, Bayang Walang Maliw" written by Eugenio C. Ingeo (sagisag: Kabisang Ulalio) for the fint and only prize.
Under Phase Two, another contest was held from September 2 to November 29, 1977, to set the lyrics to music. Also open to all comen it carried a cash prize of Five Hundred Pesos. To ensure validity and objectivity in evaluation, the entries were submitted to the Music Promotion Foundation of the Philippines, Ministry of Education and Culture, Manila for decision. But after that body failed to make a categorical and clear-cut verdict, the Council of Elders took over the job of making the choice.
It chose the composition written by Mr. Felipe A. Aguirre (sagisag Philip) the winner.
For the peculiar needs of Bauangueños here and abroad who live among or associate with, non-Tagalog speaking Filipinos and non-Filipinos, for that matter, an English version (not necessarily translation) was written albeit not set to music.
The Anthem had been set for its premiere at High Mass during the town fiesta of May 3, 1978, but due to lack of material time, the event was postponed for a later and equally appropriate occasion. Meanwhile, the municipal officials and employees have been singing it along with the National Hymn during their flag ceremonies on the municipal government premises.
The first time it was officially sung outside the place was on Independence Day, June 12, 1978, when the Bauan Municipal Cadastral Office Choir sang it at the Bauan Central School under the baton of Mr. Antonio Gran.
By a resolution of the Sangguniang Bayan of Bauan, "BAUAN: BAYANG WALANG MALIW shall be sung or played after LUPANG HINIRANG at any time, place, or occasion in which the latter is sung or played within the jurisdiction of this Municipality of Bauan, Batangas on August 19, 1978.
