Bay Area woman survives bear attack while visiting Tahoe
An East Bay woman survived being mauled by a bear while visiting her home in Lake Tahoe over the weekend. She's glad it happened to her rather her grandchild, but she has a warning. She says this was the first time a bear had gotten inside her home and that it was not affected by her screaming.

You don’t have to feed bears to get mauled by a bear, you just have to be near where someone else feeds bears, either directly or indirectly.

This is what happens when you live in their Habitat, Bears are everywhere in Tahoe Forest...The bottom line is keep your doors locked at all times...She learned a valuable lesson with almost her life...I do wish for her to recover from her Cancer
Bear attacks are rare, it's pretty scary to hear there have been 3 this year! If she survived this, I really hope she will survive through her cancer!

If Bears had opposable thumbs, Humans would be the ones eating their garbage. They are smart. DO NOT underestimate them. This is happening throughout the country and Canada. Be careful.

I don’t buy it. I’ve lived in Northern California most of my life. I’ve been mere feet away from bears many times and even came close to touching one in the dark. I’ve seen them break into homes and apartments. They’ve joined BBQs in Tahoe; they’ve crashed pool parties; interrupted lake picnics. Any bear in Tahoe who attacks was provoked.
