Baxter Performance Oil Filter Adapter Install and 1 week following up.

I installed a Baxter Oil filter adapter and Wix oil filter on a 2016 Jeep Wrangler with a 3.6L pentastar engine. This product is designed to eliminate dry start in the 3.6L pentastar. Honest review after 1 week of use. #jeep #jeepoffroad #jeepwrangler #jeeplife #jeeplifestyle #automotiverepairs #automotive #3.6 #pentastar

That filter is large. Could be that with so much volume to replace with the drainback that is occurring, a smaller filter would fill faster. As another poster said, WIX 57502 is only 4.1 inches high (which would make it fit better under the engine cover. An Amsoil EA15K50 is only 3.4 inches high, so would also fit. Each of these has the proper thread diameter and pitch (M22 x 1.50) to screw on, and the gaskets are each also the proper size (O.D. 2.75", I.D. 2.397"). Bypass valves also around 13 psi. The other advantage to this install is possibly avoiding boogering up the bypass valve in the OE filter cap by installing or removing the OE filter incorrectly. Perhaps a follow-up video with a smaller filter to see if the clatter time is reduced further.

The 90 should be put on then adjust the black baxter housing so you CAN get your closed end wrench on the 90. After that the set screw for the threads can be run down. Learned this from install on my sons JK. Good vid.

Just installed this with the same WIX filter. Kevin Baxter actually returned my call and helped me over the phone! My cover fits I just had to make sure it goes into back grommets! I also installed the J&L oil separator, which makes the vacuum lines even more challanging, but J&L want me a 90 to go around oil filter! On the downside I do have a leak in the oil filter housing.

That noise is not necessarily rocks and lifters. It could also be timing chain. The hydraulic chain tensioner takes a few seconds to fill with oil.

I have seen them bad on brand new jeeps aswell. do what you like, but when you do them, use the melling replacements rather than the mopar. Advice is free, and wisdom is hard earned. Guess you would rather wipe a cam or two out before you replace the rockers. instead of the baxter all you gotta do is hold the gas pedal to the floor and crank it to prime, it wont start, then lift to reset the TPS and crank to start normally after priming.

Here’s the thing. I found in the owners manual. If you hold the gas pedal down and cycle the ignition, it’ll prime the oil into the motor. So you don’t have a dry start. Also that whole configuration seams to be a pain in the ass.

I actually agree with you on both of these. I demonstrate the oil priming in the video. However with the oil priming technique on the original filter set up you can get a check engine light for a cam shaft position sensor bc your spine everything over with little oil pressure and the can phasers are not in the right spot. The fact of the matter is the oil delivery design is not very good and there is really nothing you can do about it. I installed this hoping that it would make a difference and it does but it does not fix it like they claim. Part of my issue is I don't drive the vehicle on a regular basis either. If it's driven daily you might have better results.

Yeah you could as long as you don't thicken the oil with it. These engines qre design for a high flow of thin oil. You don't want the oils being too thick thus making it move slower. Tho I'm also just overly concerned bc I had an engine blow with only 67k miles on it and I'm not sure exactly why it happened. I just know it was an oil issue.

Be very careful with the installation, the oil filter housing as everyone probably knows is a weak link in these engines and any rotational stress will cause it to fail and leak oil and coolant, plus it is a $15,000.00 repair including parts and labor unless you can do it yourself.
