I attended one of the last FASA run tournaments in Dallas. the preliminary rounds were "grand-melee" style with each player (around 20-30 I think it was - big table completely full) getting 1 mech of choice any standard IS variant available at the time. It started with the GM and their assistants going around the table asking what mech each player wanted and pulling out pre-printed sheets for them - when the guy came around and asked me I said "MAD-4A" he thought for a moment and asked (as I recall the conversation) "Isn't that the old 3025 version?" "Yep." "Don't you want some..." "Nope, MAD-4A." "Well I think we have one buried in here somewhere." he rustled threw his box for a little while then pulled it out and handed it to me... 51 turns later, I'm sanding near the middle of the table exchanging fire with a Thunder Hawk, one arm missing but my other PPC and LL still glowing hot, his own armor in tatters the other remaining mech - a Stealth bounces in next to the T-Hawk. The T-Hawk puts 2 GR rounds strait through the Stealth's Torso, dropping it, but received a spread of SRMs in return, one of which passed through a gaping hole I put in the T-Hawks Side Torso, hit the GR and blew the mechs side off. now my fire - no targets left. Last mech standing.

I don't know how many times I've said "this is my favorite mech" But THIS Is my favorite mech, first mech I bought in MWO. The alpha variant has so many options.

The Marauder II is a beast, I have never played one or fought against one. I would like to see online someone do a duel between a Marauder IIC and a 3050 Marauder II. First time I saw the Marauder II was in the original technical readout 3050.

Compared to the MAD3R/Bounty Hunter II it.. doesn't feel like it compares. It can fit more armor and weapons, but it's bigger and it's ability to splash damage isn't as great as the Marauder. Just aim for the massive gun ontop and you basically disable most of the mech. Or you'll hit the CT. I love my MADII but I prefer my 3R and BHII.

This has been my 'mech of choice since 1989. I've been a Marauder II pilot for 31 years. ^_^

I've never been in or against a Marauder II. There's a 3025 10,000 BV batrep video put out by Death From Above wargaming where one side has a Marauder II and the other side has like 3 lighter assault Mech including an 8Q Awesome. For 3 turns the entire lance unloads on the Marauder II, on one turn soaking the Mech with 135 points of damage, knocking him down repeatedly and the other side lost. It has to be the most epic fight I have ever observed or participated in. Always think very carefully before you take on a Capellan Warrior House.

Would have been interest to see the Clans turn this into a 'Marauder II-IIC' or something, taking the basic design an rebuilding it entirely with Clan tech.

This thing should be as feared as the highlander. It is a jump capable assault mech that excels as a sniper and will make your life nasty and short should you underestimate it. We will need the Nightstar, as it is another member of the Marauder family

The one thing I like about the marauder mk2 is that it is powerful heavy and it can help me climb terrain and with the heavy Cannon included I can snipe enemies from afar and with the mixture of ER PPC'S and the best part if it's with the team of three Atlas K's the whole thing will be protected from missiles and with high-tier weaponry yeah this thing becomes unstoppable but also it cannot do it alone it could take out an entire armies but it cannot handle battle mechs alone and this filled me with so much information and I think it's a very good detail of where it came from and where was first made I really like this lore and I'll look at the king crab next to see where it came from during its production and also I hit a like on the video and also here's a 😊 for saying thanks

My encounter with marauder 2 was board game fight of 6 light mechs vs 1 marauder 2. End result was 5 dead and one run away

Ah. The Marauder's son. Huge beast. The jumpjets are nice, but a bit unnecessary. I like using a UAC10 in it, plus three LLasers and four MLasers.

Ha! So in the Battletech universe Boba Fett drives a Marauder II. I think what I like most about ANY Marauder is that it reminds us not to be churlish IP squatters who only turn out sub-par products every few years just so we can keep our empty office building

@@GrimDarkNarrator I was using an assassin as my scout mech and both of them were hopping over building tops like spider man. The fact that the 100 ton assault was sort of keeping up is kinda scary.

how does lore deal with the multiple designs of mechs? like you said some of the Variants of this mech had a different look but what about other mechs like the madcat thats had so many designs across games. like would we say the PRIME variant looks like the original cylinder arm design, and then say the C variant looks like the MWO version?

I'd say just play what you want as a mini if there's no official art as long as it has the same or similar layout. I used the new Box Set Awesome to play a post Clan War variant that had a similar load out and is from the same Chassis family. Even though the new Box sets were 3025 mechs.

The way the lore gets around it is that the video games ( with one or two exceptions), are not considered as Canon. MWO is 100% not canon. All mechs are customizable in the Table top rules, as long as you follow the guidelines. As for your question on the Timberwolf (only you lousy Spheroid's call it a Mad Cat). It's an Omni; as long as you work within the amount of Pod space you have, (and critical spaces)you can pretty much put whatever you want in it. That's why there's so many different variations.

@@gregdomenico1891 Yeah, except the Omni is easier to modify due to their modular weapons system and you didn't have to gut a mech and basically rebuild parts of it from scratch. And some tourneys and games ban customs due to the lack of official oversight and testing over the accuracy of the PV of the modded mech.

@@dubuyajay9964 Most of the time anything pre Helm memory core isn't worth the C bills to fully upgrade. Putting in double heat sinks and an XL engine alone is almost the price of a new tech mech. Couple tourneys I played in would only allow recognized variants out of the TRO's, to include the Omnis. Now table top with your friends, that's when you can get a little crazy.

I know I'm talking about the wrong mech genre, but....the third pic (I think that's the one) Looks like a Regault Officer's Battle Pod from Robotech. Maybe? Lol...but those are way smaller!

@@GrimDarkNarrator That art (and others) is a major reason FASA, the developers of Battletech, went under. It IS a Zentradi command pod. One of the developers saw a Robotech booth at a con and liked the idea so much he copied the designs as mechs. This includes the Wasp, Stinger, Phoenix Hawk, and Crusader, which were variants of the veritech fighter, including Land-Air Mechs. They also copied the Rifleman,Archer, Warhammer, and Longbow designs. If you can find an original TRO 3050, it will have all these designs. They are currently being reprinted as Project Phoenix mechs.

@Eye Above All I actually prefer the newest design. It's close to the classic, has a similar outline, but the style and scale is more in line with the original mech designs that came later. I'm a fan of the more solid look.
