Back when videogames were fun

I have so many memories from this map, it is just unbelievable. I miss the time when the number of players was much higher in other maps besides Karkand. Sharqi is a prime example. Loved that map.

mw2 and mw3 are basically new. Battlefield 2's graphics were one of the best in the times it came out.

Ahhhh, this game brings back some epic memories.

The best multiplayer game of all time: *Unlike the CoD's of today you had to work for your ranks and medals through hundreds of hours of gameplay. *Your weapon unlocks were the result hours of harnessing your skills so when you did unlock your gun it was the best feeling in the world. *Sniping was an art and a legitimate way to kill and play *Vehicles and huge maps *Killstreaks and perks were non-existent. You were only as good as your skills. In the days when CoD was about WW2...

@airfaith Keep in mind that BF2 was not a small mapped shooter like UT, Quake or painkiller. BF2 had huge maps, with vehicles and airplanes. A shitload to render and this performed outstanding on the hardware from its time. The BF2 engine was a very solid engine and I say it again, the water engine, model textures, game mechanics and skymaps were simply amazing. You can't compare it to Half-life2, but half-life 2 had to load every 100m due to rendering very small maps to keep it playable.

8 years later and still better than most shooters :)

Battlefield series. Title with the soul.

It was the demo, and it was only on one server where nobody seemed to understand regular tactics. It's like running into someone who only uses the Deagle and AWP on CS:S without armor or grenades of any sort.

Some people really need to try this this game is not bad :)

Some people don't have that much money and decent graphic cards are quite expensive, and Battlefield 2 is pretty damn fun.

all you frikin noobs out there. you and your precious Battlefield 3 wouldnt be possible without this game. This defined the Battlefield series. the maps were huge. the gameplay was intense and with limited ammo unlike cod were you have endless amount of clips. so you have the actually conserve fire. and working as a team is highly recomended, no "one man army" shit. This game was great. I just hope they dont ruin its good name with Battlefield 3

Battlefield 2 number of players will never die until BF4 has the same gameplay as bf2

I personally love BF2 MORE than Bad Company and Battlefield 3. Battlefield 2 really gives the feeling of a battle in a battlefield. The new ones are kinda different.

BF3 was my first EA war game that i liked so i figured i should look back at bf2 and i didnt know they were that old... no wonder people went crazy when they heard BF3..

@CharIiePresents All commander would really do is call Artillery strikes on flags that were being captures. They'd usually camp too, and there were so few people who were actually making tactical decisions as a Commander.

This is the best game i have ever played. and will ever play. I have bought Bf3 but it just isn´t the same. I have played bf2 for like 3-4 years now and it´s still the best!

the urban maps are awesome, Mashtuur City is a great map too, very fun to play.

Oh the old games.. so weird to look back and wonder why I was so satisfied with them.. BF2= Battlefield Play4Free in a nutshell

Amen to that. TF2 was great in 2007-09. Then it just really went down hill with the Sniper Vs Spy update.

I don't see why people are complaining about the graphics in BF2. A: Graphics don't make a game B: The game was released in 2005 C: The 240p on this video mess it up, it's not all that bad in game.

wait wut? people complaining about BF2 graphics? ;D BF2 had the best and most realistic shooter graphics of its time. Screenshots and youtube videos do not portray the beauty of this game at all! ( hell, even now I think back about how much I liked the skymap and model textures )

You must set orders to them, if you are commander, go to commander panel, then set orders to every squad using right click on a map

@digiguilmon The funny part is that without this work of art (Battlefield 2)...the 'epic' battlefield 3 wouldnt even exist. Battlefield 2 was released in 2005, 6 years later, its still being played. Just goes to show what a great game it is. :)

battlefield 2 is to date my favorite battlefield game of all time, in the whole cod vs battlefield argument, i do believe that this is better simply because it has a much wider array of decisions, things to do and player count that creates a hectic and large battlefield with smaller skirmishes roving across a large plain whether it be in ground, air or even on an aircraft carrier.hadns down, one of the top 3 fpses i've ever played, EVER. (ever). mind you, that is a long time.

@FlawdaFootball The game still has like 10 64/64 servers each day and 2 main mods : Forgotten Hope 2 (ww2 mod) and Project Reality (realism). Project Reality has about like 5 servers full each day, each time they patch the mod the ammount of players go crazy, sometimes more than BF2 itself. FH2 is a top quality mod, less played but really fun.

I just looked up a recent forum from about May 2012 where a lot of people say that Battlefield 2 still has servers up with people playing. I am about to go play Battlefield 2: collection (all expansion packs) for only $19.99 on Steam.

IDK, the last demo servers I played on included either spawnrape with jets and choppers or players detonating each other with skill-free but twitchy tactics (like noob tubing while jumping or throwing C4 and detonating it in midair).

@AJSuperior12 it was for pc and ps2 but the one from ps2 is different from the pc version. it was called battlefield 2 modern combat.

It's not all about graphics. If you were gonna remake BF2. Here's how to do it. Use ONLY the original factions, classes, gear, and weapons, and audio. Remake all of the maps exactly as they were in the original, including lighting in Frostbite. Add new features that worked in the newer games such as full weapons customization (BF3) and character customization (Play4Free), but also include the ability to exclude them from servers, 64-player games. And most important of all, bring back MODS!!!

You can play Battlefield 2 online. There are plenty of servers out there. Same thing with Battlefield 1942, Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Medal of Honor Allied Assault and Soldier of Fortune 2, just to name a few. If you're having a hard time finding public servers, check online for a listing of private servers. I know because I play games this old on a regular basis, some even older.

@dicniancian i dont think bf3 is going in that direction, i mean, we got almost everything from bf3 except the commander, 6 player squads and 7 classes (although i wouldnt like 7 classes with 4 player squads either)

BF2 Will still be the mohter off all games, both Bad Compant, Moder Warfare and the new BF3

Are the Back to karkhand maps in BF3 from this? I would have though the maps would be from BFBC2

Don't forget Bethesda. They're keeping gamers happy too. But that's just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own.

Its not only the single player that is CoD-like in BF3, its also the multi. EA sold out, they made BF3 a game to compete against call of duty sales, and gave all the fans the middle finger. After this I'm not buying a single game from EA.

@Kinespojken Because of the gametypes, and they did actually say that they wanted to make it a bit like BC2. But BF3 is mixed with BF2 and BC2. And BF3 was not a disappointment to me.

Actually pilots do that when they need and emergency evacuation for, per say, their plane is on fire. US Air-Force only does this though.

This version of Gulf of Oman is waaaaay better. The new one just feels way too crowded. I don't know why they drastically changed it so much.

@tantona525 No it's not online, this is singleplayer with bots on Gulf of Oman map. This is sized to 15 bots and one player only, but there are also variations of this map for 32 and 64 players for online play.

Yes, people do still play it but you won't always get into full rooms. It is a legendary game so buy it anyways :]

Fuck realism and graphics. It's a game. It's designed for you to enjoy and have fun with it. Who cares if you can revive a person that was shot in the face or take bullets to the chest and brush it off like it was nothing. As long as you're having fun, that's all that matters.
