Even then, making a map big enough for 5 minutes of flight across would not be a big deal, there are several flight simulators out there with better ground detail for aircraft, but on maps 100s of square kilometers in size, and made by developers with a fraction of the manpower and budget.

Finally for once BF is more hyped up than cod.. :D

if you think that this game is in pre alpha then ur really gullible. They've been working on this game for years and its pretty much done. EA is juat saying that ao if anyone complains they can say "well its just pre alpha". If you've ever played a BF game u will know that this is pretty much what ur gunna get. I think bf1 is a fantastic game, but the speed of gameplay look like bf3 / bf4 as modernfight. I expected a more tactical gameplay and slower (but not static of course) for the world war 1 .. A matter of taste i suppose

if you are saying that this game's graphics aint that great i have three recommendations for ya 1. set the video to 1080p 2. look at all the different details on the ground, how it changes permanently with every explotion and how the mud behaves like real mud when its scooped by the wheels of a tank. 3. wait till the part when it starts raining, looks wonderful. (i mean yeah some of the wall textures are low res and there is popping, but its pre alpha guys)

Also it's a live stream so the quality of it doesn't look as good as it normally would, and the game is being shown in pre alpha build. For example I played the black ops 3 beta and the graphics comparison between the beta and actual build were so different. The case is with battlefield one. It will look better when the game comes out but it already looks amazing

Plus why does everyone have a machine gun? The majority of WW1 combat was melee. Right next to that was bolt-action rifles that could only fire 4 shots before melting shut and 40 mortar explosions per minute. None of this modern warfare crap. What is this?

Over 60% of casualties in WW1 were from artillery (including gas shells), around 38% from bullets, 2% from grenades and bombs and then around 1% from bayonets (estimated numbers ofc, since its difficult to ask the dead.) Melee fights did happen plenty, but it was way more likely you get shot than stabbed before you engage the enemy, or you just run away because stab wounds are scary business. What do you mean with bolt-action rifles melting shut after 4 rounds?

If you did fire anything from the zeppelin it wouldn't be called artillery it would be called either rockets, cannons, bombs, etc. Artillery is on the ground.

Yeah, the HUD is what brings that feeling about in my opinion. Everything involving the UI looks very similar to Battlefront. I'm guessing, however, since this is only pre-alpha that many of the UI aspects will change (hopefully). I don't want to be playing a WWI game and get a modern vibe from it because its HUD and menus.

i absolutely loved medal of honor ailed assault and bf 1942, can't wait for this

Semi-auto rifles were actually invented so that pilots could shoot at each other before intermittent timing on mgs allowed them to shoot between propellers. Next to no one had them on the battlefield (save for a few countries) all the way up to the tail end of WW2. There really should be more bolt action game-play here. The original Call of Duty multiplayer certainly didn't suffer for it.

I feel that they are going for a BC2 and BF4 mix set in WW1. They have bolt actions but also have an unrealistic amount of automatic and semi auto weapons to keep the game fun for more casual and fast pace players. The game will most likley turn out as a great WW1 game if they just buff the bolt actions to be 1 shot to the chest and head or stomach and head from mabey 0-150m.

I think they decided to take the 'safe' route and thought that since everyone is so used to spray and prey type weapons if they go back to bolt actions people won't like it? Bolt actions require a lot more skill accuracy and timing and they want new users to enjoy the game just as much if not more so. But you're right the Germans were still widely using bolt actions in ww2 lol

They had top loaded mags for certain machine guns in WW1 because they were trying to conserve resources by not using spring loaded ammo. The alternative being a top loading magazine that allows the bullets to simply fall into the chamber.

i'm really not a realism nut, but if you're gonna make a WW1 game, why not make it at least a little realistic? e.g. the way those airships move + how much damage they can take is pretty ridiculous

i agree and disagree with you both... it would probably not be very hard to change the way the airships move, but so far they haven't; and with how far developed the game looks, it is unlikely that these animations are "work in progress", but rather that they are exactly as they intend them to be ;)

Ik I bet you theyll be the exact same but you said about the damage they can take.In real life back then 1 bullet would be enough to take the whole thing down,if they made it like that it wouldnt be fun and everyone would complain,I dont even think they were used as ''gunships'' but it is a only a game ill think will turn out ver good xD

My excitement level for this games release is so intense every video I see of this game poop just seeps out of me.

Yeah, they were slow as hell in WW1. That would be more realistic but vehicle gameplay would suffer if the tanks moved at 5 MPH.

I honestly don't think this game looks anywhere near Verdun. Verdun is based on 100% trench warfare. In this game we will see similarities to Verdun like weapons and trench warfare. But this game, I believe, will be 10x more immersive.

+theelephantofwar 1 The reasons why there is so many auto's and semiautomatic rifles, is because they are taking weapons from that time period and putting them in the game. The weapons don't necessarily have to be used by a particular faction either. Also, we were only shown one map and this game is in Pre-Alpha. So things are subject to change. And at the end of the day, Battlefield is a arcade shooter. Not a war simulator. They have added realistic touches to the game but for this game to remain fun and enjoyable, certain aspects are going to twisted to keep an arcade-style FPS.

They're stoked for the fact the ground deforms by large explosions like tank shells, yet they had this feature in the Bad Company games :P

Every one of these weapons were actually around during this time period. The sub machine gun first came out during WW1. There was even a semi-auto version of the Mondragon rifle.

By the very last day of the entire war, the most numerous of a sub machine rifle was still a prototype, and less than 10,000 copies existed, and they were extremely ineffective in direct battle. There is no reason that they should be used as standard deployment in this game over bolt actions, except of course for the fact that it's literally a Battlefield 4 reskin.

Je te rejoins là dessus c'est honteux mais que veux tu, nous sommes mangés à la sauce amerloque depuis le début du capitalisme, ils ont tous les droits et nous aucun. Enfin bref ils ont trouvé la solution parfaite pour que tout le monde se sentent obligé de repayer 3 mois après la sortie du jeu. Un grand classique ces derniers temps.

The plane doesn't have complete effects, wreckage models, etc yet. They got the plane to work with base functionality and damage models so that is why you see the undamaged model being despawned upon PCO's death.

They should have a map where on each side there are two lines of tenches where each teams spawn on each side, and a fort like in capture the flag in the middle. You know, just to create that stalemate so commonly found throughout World War II.

there were various celebrities, random players and youtube gamers who tested this game out to show people that it wasn't a scripted event. snoop dogg, zac effron and some more celebs were playing too.

Those vehicle explosions looked magnificent.

Whoever's computer they are showing play the game does not have the vsync on. You can tell when the camera turns and see the horizontal "bars".
