The US vs UK rock rivalry is like a sibling rivalry 😅. At the end of the day, both countries appreciate each other. Thats why the rock/metal community is the best. 🤘🤘

I'm not from the UK but goddamn do they ever make rock. I didn't even know most of those bands were from the UK. Hands down I can say UK wins this one.

I mean the UK MADE metal and punk and has to win those scenes. 60s rock was pretty much a UK scene too with Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who, and Led Zep (as well as some heavier Beatles songs). The US has unbeatable bluesy and more country style rock though, and thrash is one of the best metal deviations and distinctly American.

As a Brit, I'm very proud of our musical heritage but I'd hate to imagine how much poorer my life would have been without the amazing music of the USA. Culturally, the UK and USA are a musical family with musicians from both nations being heavily influenced and made welcome by their cousins from either side of the pond. Consequently, we're all winners.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience was formed in the UK and both Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell were british, therefore Hendrix is technically on both sides.

So an Italian deciding whether between U.S. and U.K. riffs. This is why I love Rock n Roll. It reaches and affects everyone! Great video!

I think that England 100% wins classic rock and hard rock, 100%. They have Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, etc... But America wins Metal. They have Slayer, Metallica, and goddamn VAN HALEN. Van Halen and Metallica were the two bands that made this as close as it was, without those two, England wins 100% Edit: I forgot that Black Sabbath exists. England wins.

The problem is every time a UK band plays heavy music they are accused of playing American music.

I preferred the UK but both very good. Considering the UK is so much smaller than the us with only a 5th of the population, they have amazing rock bands.

This actually makes me proud to be British.

I know Jimi Hendrix is American, but the Jimi Hendrix Experience is from the UK. The 2 other band members were British. They were formed in London and produced all of their songs in London including All Along the Watchtower. Hendrix didn't have much luck in the US, so a British record producer brought him to London and the rest is history.

USA Vs. UK, nah, it's more of an "iconic rock riffs from musicians of two nations." The music, no matter which side of the pond it came from, is amazing.

@@sylvesternava1343 Uh, No! Every culture has music back to the dawn of time. It's a natural human thing to hum to oneself melodies in some sort of rhythm. Africans did, however invent jazz and blues...which both went on to evolve into Rock. More recently, they invented rap. Me, I like hard rock - from Guns n Roses to pearl jam , Smashing Pumkins to NIN... RHCP to RATM. Anyway, I fully tilt my hat to the African people (particularly African American), in recognition of the fact that without them, pretty much none of the popular music over the last 70 would have come to be. Further, you could realise that without slavery, Rock/Blues/Jazz/Rap/Metal/Nu-metal/R&B/Pop would never have happened! In fact, all music directed at young ppl would not have happened, and music would still be being made by stuffy, conservative middle aged white men, for stuffy, conservative middle etc etc. You get the picture. It would have been bland! Imagine who you would be now if you grew up without music to connect with...

@@sylvesternava1343 you mean invented modern music like blues..jazz..pop..rock etc but remember all of the western music came from the gregoryan music in europe which today we know as chords notes and mods.. that's modern western music and don't forget you have native american music...asian music..arabian music..and african music which is in africa not usa

1:37 should actually be 'The Jimi Hendrix Experience' and they were a British band, even though technically yes Jimi was an American.

I love how everyone is so friendly and passionate about rock in the comments, really is the best type of music to bring people together.

The UK had way more classics, but the USA's songs were more challenging overall. I also had no idea that a lot of these were UK bands. I thought I would have no idea who all of the UK bands were, but I honestly knew more UK bands than USA. Ok also, where is dire straights in this. Mark Knopfler is a Legend.

British rock can't be compared....

Both have amazing riffs and bands. Impossible to pick a side

I like USA riffs they re awsome.... BUT the UK riffs are the Best ones!!

I never wanted this to end! Enjoyed every second of every riff!

The battle will always be equal because there are so many great riffs, great songs and great bands from both regions. And don't forget about the great bands from Canada and Australia and germany

As soon as i saw Jimi i said ok it's over for UK nothing compares to that, and right after that u hit us with pink Floyd and I'm like who tf do i pick now🤔

It was The Jimi Hendrix Experience so not just Jimi himslef plus at that time US was too busy caring about white people THE BLACK MAN BROUGHT THE BLUES IN US WHILE THE WHITE FOLKS MASTERED IT IN THE UK But he should've added CCR instead of Jimi in US

@Sam Lim Yes, I know. But I thought the video was about riffs that were written in both the US and the UK, and not just riffs played in both countries. So that's why I thought it was weird that he played the cover and not the original version.

Fun fact: Most of AC/DC's band members are actually from the U.K. (Malcolm Young, Angus Young, and Bon Scott were all Scottish immigrants, while Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams were both born and raised in England).
