I got the 40mm tandorio field watch with nh35 sapphire glass for 30 bucks during current sale.

I picked up the militado in the sale last week for $35 shipped . Fantastic value field watch . Ordered a canvas strap for it . Waiting on it to arrive.

Both nice watches and good review. I know that field watches are traditionally smaller case diameters, but it would be really nice if one of the budget manufacturers did a larger version ... Say at least 40mm. For larger wrists and better legibility. Perhaps more into Flieger size with field watch design

Tandorio has similar "field" watches with 39mm diameter, one with this "Benrus DTU-2A/P* " looking dial and another with "Dirty dozen" looking dial.

Well done with the comparison review of two exceptional budget field watches.

Great comparison. I do prefer sapphire crystal in all of my watches; BUT (here comes a "hot take"), when talking about field (and diving) watches, isn't it more roughed and shatter resistant the mineral or K1 glass? I'm not an outdoors person, neither do I dive, but always imagined that for does rough activities, one would prefer a scratch rather than a shattered crystal in the middle of your adventure. It's just my opinion, I will always opt for sapphire for my desk-diving and desk-field adventures. Best regards and keep up the excelente videos.

As I watch this, I'm wearing my Militado, exactly this model. I quickly swapped out the NATO for a two-piece cordura with leather backing for a much better daily wear. Hard to imagine better value for the money. This watch is my grab-and-go, always-ready watch for when I don't have the time or ambition to wind and set one of my mechanical watches. FWIW... I still may buy an Escarpment Time because they have this same watch in white dial, which Militado doesn't.

The version with the arrow on the dial looks a bit silly. That arrow is the British broad arrow symbol used to mark government property. It looks really out of place on an American field watch design.

The cases came from the same factory. 2:50 - Well, North Africa field watch strap, alias see similar colors in AF210strap blog about the A.F.0210 strap history, the "grandfather" of the "NATO" straps. 😁

Great review of these two...Sadly ive the H0300 as the MLO5 wasnt about or id 100% opted for the MLO5 purely for the sapphire option...Ive no intention getting the ML05 as to me there identical less the crystal..Straps either near or there i changed out the super short stock soon as i got it...Unless they plop a slab a sapphire in the ET n drop its price a little it must of affected there sales surely !!!!

I like the Boderry Voyager I got.

I have the Escapement Time and had it for a while now. Excellent watch, wears really nice and always on my wrist. Replaced the strap with decent olive NATO and looks spot on. Amazes me how these cheap watches are so great, offering such excellent value and quality. The mineral crystal is not at a disadvantage over the Sapphire imho unless you’re a real hard full on adventurer. Chinese watches these days are serious contenders to the higher Brands at fraction of the price. Let’s face it once on the wrist no one will not notice the brand of watch or think any less of the wearer.

I hate having the manufacturer name on the dial unless it’s a genuine Hamilton, keep the dial clean!

Why couldn't both have lume on their index numbers? Hamilton's version doesn't, but Baltany's S2002 does....

Would you say that "feel" wise, they are similar to Hamilton? I know the hamilton has a more expensive, swiss movement but what about the dial?

I have a video about "swiss made" and the QC and refinement are almost a regulated activity... hence, hand on heart Hamilton does feel more premium even in the dial department ☝️

The sapphire crystal and the lack of branding on the face clearly favour the Militado.

I'll just leave something here: this design was officially specified by the US Army and caught up by brands like Benrus, so it's not a Hamilton homage. Actually i believe that the current Hamilton watches with this design would be seriously rejected by the military on the grounds of price...

Militado wins against Escapement Time. HOWEVER, they both lose in a TEOTWAWKI this type of watch is most useful in. The "batteries not included, because you need none!" Tandorio beats them both with its EMP-proof NH35A calibre, 200 meter water-proofing, and sapphire! I am wearing my 39mm pilot right now, and it keeps wonderful time, almost like quartz, except it can survive atomics! ... well, that means it would survive me, but that is a different story...

Yes, seems that video edition eat the Militado box. 😁 Militado ML05 came in a square box - seems tin; covered with artificial red leather with the watch placed around a cushion.
