Battle of Jaffa (1192 AD) Richard the Lionheart VS Sultan Saladin - Total War Cinematic Epic Clash
Ойындар
The Battle of Jaffa took place during the Crusades, as one of a series of campaigns between the army of Sultan Saladin (Ṣalāḥ al-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Ayyūb) and the Crusader forces led by King Richard I of England (known as Richard the Lionheart). It was the final battle of the Third Crusade, after which Saladin and King Richard were able to negotiate a truce. Although the Crusaders did not regain possession of Jerusalem, Christian pilgrims were permitted entry into the city, and the Crusaders were able to retain control of a sizable strip of land stretching from Beirut to Jaffa.
Although largely a footnote among the greater events that unfolded during the Crusades, the battle was a decisive encounter, in that it forced Saladin to negotiate an end to the immediate hostilities. The battle illustrated the determined spirit of Saladin and the courage and tactical skill of Richard. It was the final armed encounter between the two monarchs before the ratification of the Treaty of Jaffa brought the Crusade to an end. The battle ensured that the Crusader presence in the south of Palestine was secure.

Fantastic cinematics. They seriously deserve longer videos perhaps 15 minute battle clips.
I remember reading both Christian and Islamic sources on this battle. The Christian sources were (IIRC) a combination of several accounts from anonymous crusaders put into a poetry-like form, so there were a lot of artistic/emotional expressions. The Islamic source was written by a Muslim historian who was present during the crusade. It’s comparatively calm and dry. Despite their different styles, it’s pretty interesting how both accounts roughly match. For instance, the Christian sources say a priest jumped from the walls of Jaffa and swam to Richard’s ship. The Muslim Historian also saw this with his own eyes from a distance, but could not have known he was a priest, so simply says “one of the garrison jumped” Once Richard learned Jaffa had still not fallen, he immediately moved his fleet to the shore to disembark. The Christian sources say Richard didn’t even wear his full armor but rushed to the shore, and he was the first man to land. The Muslim Historian says Richard’s boat and his men were the first to touch shore, and Richard’s armor, banner and hair were all red (again, he saw this with his own eyes.) During the battle itself, the Christian sources go into detail of Richard’s personal bravery and marital skill, saying he got shot by numerous arrows to the point where he looked like a porcupine. It also states Richard’s palms were bleeding due to the several sword blows he dealt to the enemy. Now the Muslim Historian removed himself from the battle and wasn’t present. However he interviewed those who were, and states “I was assured that the King of England, lance in one hand, rode through our ranks left to right. Not one of our warriors challenged him.”
Long live the king....✝️
Finally a battle again. Thank you ❤
Richard Lionheart was the great leader of the Christian army
Your cinematics are seriously getting better. my only recommendation is more war horns, makes the battle feel more surreal, im certain theres a particular difference in sound for charge, advance, defend, retreat and culture played a factor, you wouldn't see celtic picts using a hunnic warhorn. , idk playing rome 2 I noticed eastern factions have higher pitched horns.

Now say that without crying, baldwin, barbarosa and richard all 3 whooped him lol Saladins own biographer and one of leading man ibn shaddad wrote of terror richard brought in saladins army. After barbarosa drowned, richard sailed and came as his replacement. “ the catholic king rode on his horse with lance in his hand alone, galloping from left to right and not a single muslim dared to challenge him” - Ibn shaddad translation, literally google him 😂
