I can respect that some like the changes, but I have to disagree that it's closer to the source material. The drawings are faithful to the source, but the blu-ray added so much filter and CG smoke to cover them up. Most looking forward to chapter 5's changes though, as I've seen some shots of Reiner's titan getting more touch-ups to blend better with 2D

lol blocking the faces of all the titans??? Whoever had that idea needs to be fired.

The thing they did with the sparks is mostly less about "making them smaller". Since most of the TV version sparks are more drawn in hard 2d and the Blu Ray opted for more realistic spark (its still 2d but are drawn to appear more realistic and refined looking) Also the "darkening then the immediate lightening of scene" looks a bit questionable if you took them apart but viewing them consecutively makes the "lighting in those sequence more in line with how the prior scene are color tuned. And there are a lot of scenes that are darkened more since those scenes took place where the "steam is technically the thickest" which should make them appear more less visible and less light should be able to interact with the objects in there.

Exactly what I was thinking. I think adding the steam/fog over the titans on the doomsday Titan help to make them feel a part of the environment more, instead clear 2D drawings on a backdrop. Also the number of colosal titans around would be making a crap ton of steam, so those changes don’t bother me.

Why the heck do they think removing the impact spark effects is in any way an improvement? Theres no weight to the new sparks at all

The smoke they added in the scene where Mikasa gets knocked down by the armor titan looked a little amateur ish. The animation of the fall is so fluid with the occapi passing beside her. The smoke kinda ruins it.

I like most of the changes, but educing the sparks foe Levi and mikisa was not it. It looked so cool!

Why are they still on planet Namek lol. i wish they wouldve colored the sky blue

It’s contribute of Akira Toriyama’s death, so they added that on purpose as an references.

Ngl the TV version is better without the unnecessary changes lol. Atleast for this volume....

I think the added smoke was only good with the plane scene

I hate mappas blu ray changes. For some reason they're always be reducing impact effects and blurring really good shots to the point u almost can't see shi

They should have coloured the woman with the baby scene. I don't see a shit in black and white when you see people falling into the ocean from a distance.

Ok I do like the changes, but the blood, spark and added steam is a bit too much, I think the darker whine like blood fit the series, the sparks being as large as they were really hammered in the impact and the force of what was causing them, specifically when Mikasa’s blades break, the force and friction of the impact that caused them to break would cause a huge amount of sparks. And with the steam, with some of the parts the steam fit and emphasized the scene, in others though, it doesn’t fit/ is too much. Lastly unrelated, but I’ve only ever read the black and white version of the manga, in the colored version what color is the sky? I never minded the blueish green color in the anime but I’ve been reading the comments and it does make me question it. PS this is just my opinion on the changes

The difference between AOT and JJK s2 blue Ray is night and day😢

Blu ray is just supposed to be fixes . Jjk didn't have time to animate some scenes so they added them in the blu ray. While aot animated everything they wanted

It's cause they arnt the same show and jjk was unfinished to begin with while aot was already finished from the start

​​@@legendleopard7125 aside from that, which is a fact, I'm starting to feel like I hate this direction and this photography. Camera movement is really strange, still shots are (most of the time) soulless, color correction is a mess (they wanted it cinematic and faithful to reality, but then thei put a weird filter on the sky and so on), backgrounds feel so generic (i work in the concept art field, and sometimes all I see are anonymous cgi props) and, last but not least, I find the use of lighting reeally bland (not talking about the titans having NO FUCKING TEXTURES, making them feel like plastic-made). I think that, with that being said, pretending major fixes or different fixes is utopistic (just look at previous changes made for season 4, some of them seems a joke). We have to accept that this direction have a different vision of aot. (less mesmerizing, in my humble pov)

The tv is better in my opinion. The blu-ray’s smoke looks out of place

I feel like most of the fog is to cover up their titan drawins, which I feel wasn't necessary. If they wanted to improve the titans without redrawing them, all they'd have to do is apply texturing like WIT does to their titans

@@oyamampendu9467 Its a Blueray version that costs over $100, so I think it shouldn't be too much to do, also, there have been independent artists that have successfully applied the WIT texturing to fully animated scenes of titans successfully, so I'm sure a big studio with better tools and more skillful artists could do that as well

Increasing smoke, blurring and reducing sparks??? I definitely won’t be buying these Blu-ray. I don’t get the increasing smoke and hiding details for “mystery”. Why would I want to watch that dumb smoke covering the animation?
