Some interesting things; Marnie is probably poor. Spikemuth is a poor town and Piers states that you can buy Piers' merch. In other words; the only reason why Marnie's in the race is because Team Yell pooled money together to buy her pokémon gear. It's mentioned that she got her pokémon from Piers, which means that she probably didn't have pokéballs starting out. Marnie is the figure head of a grass roots sports initiative and Team Yell just want their idol's baby sister to succeed.

Yeah, I feel like for a game for children, this game is rather realistic and cruel. Like in every generation, "you" are either related to the gym leader, the doctor, or even the champion. So you get to choose from there relatively better pokemons. Other kids in the game may never have a chance to battle in gym.

I just realized, all your rivals replaced/will replace some other important character in the game. Bede replaces Opal as Fairy gym leader, Hop is working to become the next professor & will replace Sonia eventually, you replace Leon as champion, & Marnie replaces Piers as Dark gym leader.

Honestly I'd like to think that after training her ass off, Marnie makes another go at the gym challenge just to take us down from our throne and succeeds by a landslide, surpassing even Piers. Additionally, she'd not use Dynamaxing as often as the other trainers and so she'd garner a lot of attention during the competition, taking the donations and putting them towards Spikemuth.

Never violin, piano, techno and rock felt so god togeter. I listend to countless Marnie Remix, but that one is one of the two lucky to catch my full attention. GG man, this is a masterpeice.

It was oddly cool that she got a grimmsnarl. I had impidimp and they pretty much destroyed her team so having our eventual Grimmsnarls duke it out at the end of the game was pretty awesome.

I think I figured it out. Piers distanced himself from the other gym leaders because he was the only gym leader who was wasn't brainwashed, corrupted and bought. He was the only who stood up to the corrupt authorities/government and who helped the main protag in the end, all the other gym leaders were cowards who were too scared of losing their positions of power and authority they got from the chairman so they turned a blind eye and didn't question him. Piers is the only one of the lot who is a real man. The only one who listened to his conscience and refused to compromise his moral values. That's why he wasn't at the opening ceremony, that's why he refuse to dynamax, that's why he didn't succomb to pressure when the government abandoned his town and let it fall into decrepitude. He might not have known who the villain was, but he obviously had strong suspicions. He's a good person, a good brother, and a sweetheart. A lot of people in the fandoms adore him, admire him and respect him. Not just for all these things, but also because he doesn't do dynamax/"bloody giants" bullshit and giant stadium crown bullshit, just good old fashioned battles based purely on strategy. Chairman Rose isn't really a bad guy it's just he didn't realize eternatus would cause havoc, other than that he didn't really do anything bad and the other gym leaders didn't really do anything wrong either

My headcanon is that Marnie's theme was composed for her by her brother.
