Battle for influence between US and China heats up in Africa
The battle for influence in Africa between the United States and China is increasingly heating up.
Tanzania, for example, saw trade volumes with China averaging US$9 billion annually and is hoping that figure could double by the end of the decade.
In the meantime, the US is also looking to boost trade and investment in the country, promising half a billion dollars in financing, to help companies export goods and services to Tanzania.

Exactly. Just business! Africa Chinese direct investment rose from $1 billion in 2004 to $43.4 billion in 2020. Since 1990, Chinese enterprises established eleven SEZs in sub-Saharan Africa including Nigeria (two), Zambia, Djibouti, Kenya, Mauritius, Mauritania, Egypt, Oman, and Algeria. The SEZs facilitated labour-intensive and less competitive industries, for example in textiles. Not only in Africa , they do it in Asia also... America's provocative path is raising concerns among countries in Asia The US Foreign Policy to keep Asia poor and divided as stated in a top-secret U.S. Foreign Policy document written 76 years ago is still in force. February 24, 1948, Declassified U.S. Foreign Policy: Furthermore, we have about 50% of the world’s wealth but only 6.3% of its population. This disparity is particularly great as between ourselves and the peoples of Asia. In this situation, we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity without positive detriment to our national security. ... that Japan and the Philippines will be found to be the corner-stones of such a Pacific security system and that if we can contrive to retain effective control over these areas there can be no serious threat to our security from the East within our time. Taiwan was added to the Pacific security system after Chiang's army retreated to the island of Taiwan in 1949. South Korea was added after the Korean War in 1953. The attempt with Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia was abandoned in 1975.

Cheng He from China sailed the oceans and landed in Lamu, Kenya, some 80 years before Columbus discovered the New World. What is most surprising is that as advanced as China was at that time, with 30 ships landing in Kenya, China did not enslave the Africans. Instead, they returned to China with a giraffe. Chinese values harmonious co-existence, cooperation, and respect for other cultures. Western Anglo-European and American cultures have always been very extractive, exploitative, and predatory towards non-white populations. Their immigration policies divide the world into Eastern and Western Hemisphere. They imposed restrictions on the number of people that can enter tge U.S.from the Eastern Hemisphere all the way to Afghanistan, but there are no restrictions on the Europeans.

For decades, the IMF keep giving Nigerian kleptomania politicians money for infrastructural development. These set of politicians keep enriching themselves and group of cronies. After the seventies the west reduced their financing of infrastructure projects. Most of their aid money went to what was referred to as "institution building," that is to say promoting democracy, gender equity, environment and so on that required the local governments to hire expensive western consultants whose fees were paid from the aid money. So nothing was built instead most of the aid money went back to the donor country through their consultants! The Chinese however would build the infrastructure themselves. Africa should remember when the West treat them like sh!t and China was still poor in the 60's but Chou En Lai promised Africa a railway system and ACTUALY DID DELIVER the TAZARA that helped not just Tanzania and Zambia tremendously but also neighboring African states.
Battle? LOL.. On lecturing about human rights and lghdt+ ??

AS LONG AS AFRICAN NATIONS WOULD STAY AWAY FROM CORRUPT PRACTICES AND HAVE MORE LOVE AND CARE TO AFRICAN PEOPLE.
the "Age of Exploration" was a disaster for all the indigenous people throughout the world. CNA can't be serious asking about the empire's influence in Africa?
Africa region in these few recent ten plus years improved their standards of living and transportation mode with the help of china and becomes a very nice place to visit.
China 🇨🇳 Wins because of Infrastructure Investments that paysoff in the longrun.

Singaporeans are technological advance, while Africa is not. I think it's the other way around
There's no battles for influence in Africa. China never force African countries to choose a side, only the west is doing so, especially the US.
Annually African leaders troop to Beijing for development issues and to Washington for lectures on human rights and democracy.
Go China.
The emergence of China as an economic power is a blessing to Africa.
From South Africa , SA 🇿🇦🇿🇦 , we will always thank Russia🇷🇺, China 🇨🇳, Cuba 🇨🇺 and much of Eastern world for supporting us against US and western sponsored white minority European settlers during apartheid in our country . China ,Russia and Cuba supported us with materials , wepons , finances so that today we can be free. MY point is that , we know our history and we know our real friends
The US has no interest in major infrastructure development on the African continent the way they did with the Marshall Plan in Europe, here is the synism about it. Europeans share their heritage with the US, but then when they see the Chinese share their development strategies with Africa, then the Chinese are seen as a threat to the US. One wonders, would it not be in the interest of the US to see the African continent progress into emerging economies that will propel them to developed nations rather than least developed? The US has not interest in African development but as a strategic resource extracting continent.
As long as lives are improved in Africa.
Bravo China share the wealth by creating jobs for Africa
Why the posted comments are more informative than the CNA video?
The US and its colonial allies are only interested in exploiting the developing countries'resources rather than developing that country's economy. China does the opposite and helps with the development of infrastructures that benefit the people economically in exchange for goods and services. Take a look at the Philippines for example, an ally of the US for nearly 100 years and yet look at where the Philippines is now, many people are still struggling just to make ends meet and the country is still a third world country way behind Singapore, South Korea, and Japan. The neighboring Nations such as Vietnam, Indonesia,Thailand, and the rest of ASEAN are even doing well if not much better in certain sectors. Don't end up like the Philippines being used and dictated by the US when it comes to economic trades and making independent foreign policies. The Philippines are losing economically because the US is holding the country hostage, preventing The Philippines from doing trades with Russia and other countries whom the US considered their enemies. 💢 Be very very careful making deals with the US and their deceptive ways of doing Businesses. 💢
Truly heart-warming when seeing the comments on China over Sino-Africa relation. Long live Sino-Africa friendship! Long live multi-polar world!
The only countries that still believe in the us is pinoy, Japan, SK, and EU, while India playing four goals
Thanks to 🇨🇳... African countries got a voice, Not a slaves continent anymore. But beware 🇺🇲 n gangs, a leopard NEVER CHANGE its Spots.
From Tanzania: We very proud with chinese here very very proud❤❤❤
There is no battle with true friends and allies .or business partners that we welcome on the continent who are not colonizers or bullies .
Good job Tanzania
Leave Africa alone and let them run their own countries,
China : builds Us & Eu : lectures
If you want meetings, work with the US. If you want getting things done, work with China.
The contrast between China and the US is stark. While both countries are dynamic in terms of expanding their influence, but are in two very different ways. China is more development orientated, while the US is more about military power, and brought with it, destruction and deaths. For people who want nothing but a better life, it is not hard to choose between the two.
Good Tanzania you are doing very well.
China-Africa Win-Win Cooperation Expertise Prophecy comes true 👍 👌
😂 The director of pan-africanism today Akende Membe said this, if you look at the Western and the imperialist countries they come with their own interests. The vice president of the U$ came to Zambia landed at a chinese-built airport in Zambia moved on a chinese-built road in Zambia. It's it's ironic that Kamala Harris will travel to Zambia and tell zambians stop trusting the Chinese and having a relationship with them when everything that she has used in Zambia the Chinese basically helped build.
Nonsensical message by mainstream media... Africa is not an arena. One day is one day... 😅😅😅
The US's obsession with competition, as opposed to cooperation, coupled with centuries of Anglo-colonial prejudice and bigotry against Africa will always hamper any US interest in Africa. Notice that the US's projects concern themselves with money and finance, whereas the Chinese projects are more about people and jobs.
Europe and USA have never supported technologicalvtransfer to Africa. For them, Africa should never learn to use their own resource. No wonder the Bantu educational system.
Trade in Peace and Democracy USA does not trade anything Other than overpriced weapons In this offer you cannot refuse If you want peace - wink wink!
Belgium is richer than Russia 😂😂😂, western should payback African resources, Belgium bring back lumumba's teeth instead of resources 😢😢😢
All I can say thank you Great China🙏🏾✊🏿🇨🇳🇹🇿🙂
Do not become hostage of the US and its colonial allies. Keep the country economic and military policies open to all Nations around the world without politics involved.
Africa needs to learn how to advocate for itself. Start figuring out how to manufacture, become programmers, and build technology.

As I Chinese, I have to tell you this: we are not going to take your rich back to China, we are going to create wealth with you. We invest in your country, building factories, roads, grids, hiring local people. The people hired get money, then they use the money to buy industrial products of China. Of course we Chinese people earn money, but you also improve your living standards. Imagine the scene, you can have a car, a brand new car with the salary of a year! A decent brand new car! Chinese people now make this true in China, and we will make this true all over the world!
As a Chinese, I would say this competition of investing in Africa is healthy competition which can make the world a better place. If only all the US-China competitions are like this...
An easy choice actually, especially after seeing what the US has done in the past two years...
