Battle for influence between US and China heats up in Africa

The battle for influence in Africa between the United States and China is increasingly heating up.
Tanzania, for example, saw trade volumes with China averaging US$9 billion annually and is hoping that figure could double by the end of the decade.
In the meantime, the US is also looking to boost trade and investment in the country, promising half a billion dollars in financing, to help companies export goods and services to Tanzania.

Exactly. Just business! Africa Chinese direct investment rose from $1 billion in 2004 to $43.4 billion in 2020. Since 1990, Chinese enterprises established eleven SEZs in sub-Saharan Africa including Nigeria (two), Zambia, Djibouti, Kenya, Mauritius, Mauritania, Egypt, Oman, and Algeria. The SEZs facilitated labour-intensive and less competitive industries, for example in textiles. These efforts aim to transfer China's development successes to other countries and increase business opportunities for all.

Not only in Africa , they do it in Asia also... America's provocative path is raising concerns among countries in Asia The US Foreign Policy to keep Asia poor and divided as stated in a top-secret U.S. Foreign Policy document written 76 years ago is still in force. February 24, 1948, Declassified U.S. Foreign Policy: Furthermore, we have about 50% of the world’s wealth but only 6.3% of its population. This disparity is particularly great as between ourselves and the peoples of Asia. In this situation, we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity without positive detriment to our national security. ... that Japan and the Philippines will be found to be the corner-stones of such a Pacific security system and that if we can contrive to retain effective control over these areas there can be no serious threat to our security from the East within our time. Taiwan was added to the Pacific security system after Chiang's army retreated to the island of Taiwan in 1949. South Korea was added after the Korean War in 1953. The attempt with Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia was abandoned in 1975.

Cheng He from China sailed the oceans and landed in Lamu, Kenya, some 80 years before Columbus discovered the New World. What is most surprising is that as advanced as China was at that time, with 30 ships landing in Kenya, China did not enslave the Africans. Instead, they returned to China with a giraffe. Chinese values harmonious co-existence, cooperation, and respect for other cultures. Western Anglo-European and American cultures have always been very extractive, exploitative, and predatory towards non-white populations. Their immigration policies divide the world into Eastern and Western Hemisphere. They imposed restrictions on the number of people that can enter tge U.S.from the Eastern Hemisphere all the way to Afghanistan, but there are no restrictions on the Europeans.

Zambia did not pay one dollar for that hospital if you went and saw all the little placard that says gift from the Chinese people it's the size of an A4 sheet of paper and this is a massive hospital that deals with over 2 600 referral cases a month. But China is so humble in the way they deal with us on the African continent. U$A : China debt trap ! Africa : At 2.35% interest rate, and sometimes will forgive, I want this debt trap. For decades, the IMF keep giving Nigerian kleptomania politicians money for infrastructural development. These set of politicians keep enriching themselves and group of cronies. After the seventies the west reduced their financing of infrastructure projects. Most of their aid money went to what was referred to as "institution building," that is to say promoting democracy, gender equity, environment and so on that required the local governments to hire expensive western consultants whose fees were paid from the aid money. So nothing was built instead most of the aid money went back to the donor country through their consultants! The Chinese however would build the infrastructure themselves. We can see infrastructure now. "China builds more roads in Africa in the past 20 years than the western colonial powers did in 200 years."

This happened in reality in my country, Indonesia, and they managed to overturn attempts by the government to increase the shares to 50 percent from 1967 to 2018 multiple times.

Europeans share their heritage with the US, but then when they see the Chinese share their development strategies with Africa, then the Chinese are seen as a threat to the US. One wonders, would it not be in the interest of the US to see the African continent progress into emerging economies that will propel them to developed nations rather than least developed? The US has not interest in African development but as a strategic resource extracting continent.

The US and its colonial allies are only interested in exploiting the developing countries'resources rather than developing that country's economy. China does the opposite and helps with the development of infrastructures that benefit the people economically in exchange for goods and services. Take a look at the Philippines for example, an ally of the US for nearly 100 years and yet look at where the Philippines is now, many people are still struggling just to make ends meet and the country is still a third world country way behind Singapore, South Korea, and Japan. The neighboring Nations such as Vietnam, Indonesia,Thailand, and the rest of ASEAN are even doing well if not much better in certain sectors. Don't end up like the Philippines being used and dictated by the US when it comes to economic trades and making independent foreign policies. The Philippines are losing economically because the US is holding the country hostage, preventing The Philippines from doing trades with Russia and other countries whom the US considered their enemies. 💢 Be very very careful making deals with the US and their deceptive ways of doing Businesses. 💢

As I Chinese, I have to tell you this: we are not going to take your rich back to China, we are going to create wealth with you. We invest in your country, building factories, roads, grids, hiring local people. The people hired get money, then they use the money to buy industrial products of China. Of course we Chinese people earn money, but you also improve your living standards. Imagine the scene, you can have a car, a brand new car with the salary of a year! A decent brand new car! Chinese people now make this true in China, and we will make this true all over the world!
