Thank you for the video. It helped me out for tomorrow's draft. Draft with 8 players, then pods of 4. Keep up the great content. I bought a ten pack of Kamigawa Neon Dynasty foil treasure/Samurai tokens from ebay. To hand out. I've been playing Mtg for over 11 years now.

Thanks for the info. Adventure is back! time for some broken commons again lol. 5:52 "Rip through enough dirt and you"ll eventually hit something edible" is generally my tactics for finding something to eat in my fridge.

Cloakwood Hermit says "creature card", so it doesnt trigger when a token goes to the graveyard. But thanks for the video!

Good call! I missed the word, “card,” on the card. It’s still a solid combo, because generating 2 squirrels is nice compensation for sacrificing a creature, but it needs a bit more setup. Thanks for pointing it out! I’m glad you liked the video!

Did two drafts last night. Green/white token deck with Wilson as commander and token making white background, got second. Blue/red lazhan/dragon deck won the second round. Was a fun draft, but nobody really knew what to draft. So I'm interested in trying again after people know what is what. Wish I had seen this before the draft though.

I will play 2 drafts of this set with my friend on next week, wish me some luck)

Key note with removal. While it will set you back a little, it can be very valuable to set you up relationship wise with the other players on the board

Absolutely. Indiscriminate removal is obviously not wise. But you can't really evaluate removal in commander by simply focusing on card disadvantage. It is a key part of the political side of the game. I.e. I'll take care of this emergent threat if you do x in return. You're supposed to translate the card disparity into leverage in some way. Also, the card disadvantage is irrelevant in the common scenario of, "Hey guys, we're all going to lose if we don't kill this now."

Right! At a pre-release commander draft at my favorite card shop, I was playing against someone who took control of someone else's commander, and later I used "Run Away Together" on that controlled commander to return it to the other guy's hand, but then I also returned another one of his creatures, so it was pretty even. He never attacked me again tho!

17:07 it’s been a year but if anyone else comes across this, the hermit would not trigger off the tokens as tokens are not considered “cards” unfortunately. Yes they die/enter the graveyard but sense it specifically is looking for cards entering it has no effect here

Did anyone else have a terrible experience. Our store really didn't have fun drafting and playing beyond just us making it fun. The games took way longer and I guess Wizards told LGS that it would be one of the fastest events. I would be ok if they never have a draft and maybe only have a prerelease with 6 packs. Our prerelease was 3 packs for 25 bucks and another 2 after we were done which I guess Wizards is raising prices again after record sales. Also they are under cutting our LGS and we need to fight back or we will have nowhere to play and have a community of friends at the store.

Thanks for the video! I'm drafting CLB tomorrow and didn't actually know that it was commander. Also, 17:30 doesn't work because Cloakwood Hermit says "creature card" and tokens aren't technically cards.

Unsure how my prerelease will go tomorrow. They're doing sealed and throwing in 2 extra packs, hopefully I can manage to make a decent 60 card deck with a 101 card pool 😬

Sivriss, Nightmare Speaker with Cloakwood Hermit will not allow you to sack squirrel tokens to make more squirrels because Cloakwood Hermit specifies "creature card" and creature tokens are just creatures but not "cards". 17:19

Wait, you can only play 3 copies of a card even if you draft a playset (4) of said card?

Unfortunately it is only for in person events. However, there will be an Alchemy masters version coming to Arena that will be designed for Draft. It is coming in early July.
