Nothing new here. This song is still nuts years after the first time I heard it. Joell remains a lyrical beast who is overlooked. This man is so underrated it's a shame. His bars are so consistent, while your catching what he said, you miss the next slick shit he's about to say. Then you gotta rewind. hahahaha I remember them days. Back when emcees had so many bars you couldn't help but play it over and over to relive the slick talk. #respect to Mr. Ortiz

You only get quite a few songs in hip hop that make you sit back and say what did I just listen to? Then you find yourself listening to it the rest of the night nonstop.. This is one of them!!!! These bars are nothing to play.. NY should be proud

This is an all-time great hip hop song.
When you thought Joell Ortiz couldnt get better than this, then he drops Mona Lisa... 9 years and running.
Ortiz

Joell was def a refresher in a time when the industry had given up. He took it back to the early 90's, when every other banger on the radio was from a future legend. His punchlines were bonkers. I liken them to like a Pun, or Big L, Canibus. These dudes always had me having to rewind.

Joell Ortiz was interviewed for the book series *HOW TO RAP* and *HOW TO RAP2*, and shared his rapping techniques. Here he talks about giving people what they paid for. "If you have a shitty show and a hit record, you’re fucked- when people spend their money, they want a fucking show. If you calling yourself an MC, you better be prepared to give those people what they paid for."
