I had this game and never realized how slow the animations were. I guess back in 1994 playing this on CD ROM was groundbreaking so never really noticed it.

King attacking a bishop is the best

This is the craziest bit of nostalgia that I honestly never thought I'd experience -- not to mention even remember. I used to put the disc into my CD player and listened to the audio files. Must've been at least 25 years ago, how crazy!

Which got a 3D upgrade; the remake (subtitled as “Game of Kings”) has nearly 3 times the amount of capture animations.

BLUE KING music hits the best!!! But they all are so good. Blue knight is second. Gotta love the creepy bishops graphics too. POUND--FOR---POUND, Blue music wins.

watching this on speed 2.0 is MUUUUUCH more entertaining

To this day, this parody of the fight between the knights is still very funny. The game makes the scene of Monty Python and the Holy Grail

I remember my grandfather showing me this game when I was a kid lol so violent, I was shocked by it but couldnt help myself it was so cool, now comedic of course, wanna play it again

I remember I learned to play chess with this game. Just moving the pieces until it would let me move them and picked it up!

Amazing how a 30-year old game still holds up today.

I was becoming a chess master as a kid and didn’t even know it! Lol

One of my first games. I remember playing it when I was about 4 or 5 years old and got frustrated because I had no idea how to play chess xD I learned from this game though!

I would love it if someone would remake this exact game. The music, the way the characters pieces look and their personalities and their kill animations when they take over another piece. I was 5 or 6 years old when I played this over 15 years ago. It was the first game I ever played. I want to play it again honestly.

Three years late, but they can be by editing an ini file in the Windows version. They can be made to go really fast. I don't think they can be in the DOS version.

Una vez jugué o vi jugar un juego de ajedrez semejante al Battle Chess, pero tengo el recuerdo de que los gráficos no eran tan coloridos (se veían en tonos de azul y gris, como si fuese de noche) y una de las piezas era una especie de troll que literalmente "se comía" a la pieza enemiga al capturarla. ¿Alguien sabrá cuál es?

***** Puede que te refieras a la versión originaria que fue distribuida a finales de los 80, aunque no me viene a la mente ningún trol (si exceptuamos el momento en el que la torre se convierte en un monstruo). Ten en cuenta que este vídeo corresponde a la versión mejorada que salió en CD-ROM unos años después.

Tienes que configurar la tarjeta de sonido con los valores SoundBlaster, port 220, IRQ 7 y DMA 1. Además, una vez que te encuentres dentro del juego dispones de unas pestañas en la parte superior que te permitirán escoger el tipo de efectos que deseas que se escuchen durante la partida.

Tan sólo tienes que descargar e instalar la versión de "DOSBox" para MAC. En cuanto a la velocidad de movimientos, puedes corregirlo aumentando los ciclos a través de dicho emulador.

El símbolo "~" se introduce con la combinación de teclas ALT+126. No obstante, desconozco cuál será la manera de arrancarlo en MAC porque nunca lo he utilizado.
