Brief story of why one of my favorite class is Juggler. Even though its not the best. My most fondest memory in Battle Brothers is one juggler whos name I have long since forgotten. But I did change his name to Lord Pounding. He was a juggler with huge and bloodthirsty. 1 star melee, 2 stars health. 2 fatigue. He wasn't the strongest bro, but god. Was he amazing fun when he did hit. Head hunter/battle forged/killing frenzy/berserk/footwork/fast adaptation/learner/flail mastery/adrenaline/colassas/(the reduced fatigue perk.)/pathfinder. When he hit someone in the head it nearly killed all foes. And it was such amazing fun. Especially with this named two handed flail, on my steam I have a few.. thousand screenshots of named weapons/armors I came across. This one had such armor pen and damage against armor. It one shotted all humans (this was before blazing deserts.) And it was such, such fun. Him just smashing in heads, orc warriors were nothing to his brutal poundings. Clear the center, let him step up. Footwork into the middle of the crowd. Adrenaline. Then swinging for the fences. Getting a hit on the head was high.. crushing many skulls. Majority of the time getting a kill. Berserk. Doing it again.. Most of the time clearing the entire middle of the battle lines. Oh I miss him and that save. I always look for another juggler just so I can relieve that fun experience once again

yeah i had a brute flail guy too and he can headshot orc warriors pretty hard, when it's the body though it hits like a wet noodle 😂Footwork into round swing sound cray cray but very fun, i gotta try that sometimes.

12:37 the assasin gained from the bastard event will be almost always good and worth a try (like the caravan event and the bowyer events). It has hp, fatigue, resolve and ranged defense excluded meaning you can almost have the perfect trio of M.A. M.Defense and ini for your fencer.

One neat thing about Retired Soldier is you can get one super early on by doing a Webknechts contract. For a free brother early on its pretty good. The free one I would consider B tier and any others C tier.

As someone who likes the manhunters origin here are a few things why their indebted are better. 1. whip effect, which increases combat skills of the indebted based on the level of the battle brother that does the whipping. It also returns the morale of the indebted to normal (making their morale easy to manage) 2. gets them for free from fighting humans 3. they get different base stats for their indebted based on the human faction they fought (barbarian indebted for example have normal health but less defense) 4. no salary: saves you a lot of money. I would but the manhunters indebted in A tier.

Thing I like about ratcatcher is that its a cheap warm body and a net that comes with it, very valuable early, easily slightly better or on par with the similar cost backgrounds. Also high init which is useful for early dodge tanking and turn order. HP is meh but thats fine. Fishers are similar and slightly better stats but they are slightly more expensive, still cheap though. Id say they are better value early than stuff like gamblers, jugglers, daytalers. In my mind the net also just removes like 50-60 of their cost too since a net is always going to be useful and never a piece of gear you just sell, so ratcatchers are basically 50 gold which is like a beggar or cripple but with basically baseline stats, and fishers are 100 gold or so.

19:30 Caravan hands. I love these guys, if I can. I load up a company full of 'em so I have so much inventory space by the end game. Its such a good event to get inventory space especially early on. To contain more gear and wait for the right chance to sell. Along with having a merchant in the party, so you get slightly better selling prices. And better purchasing prices. I typically keep them till mid game. When I transition out once I get enough proper equipment and plenty of inventory spaces. Or if I find exactly what I want in recruits whilst traveling, then I give them a discounted boot kickin' outta the company.

U can buy it when u play Peasant milita. And U can use him As backliner so he never face to face some one. He usually good equip with cheep self price. So at early game u can take 1. • @feediefood

they are both important. each star is 5 stats in the long run, 3 means 15 more. If your poacher starts out with 10 less range skill but has 3 stars, he will end up with 5 more than the hunter. All that matters is how much they can get at the end

Minstrel is potentially good for peasant militia start as you can have one on your starting roster with some of your highest resolve potential for a banner, but you can't hire them because they aren't lowborn. Same with gambler. Also, monk is basically just a serviceable bannerman who stops my hedge knights from killing each other. Admittedly this isn't as useful since blazing deserts and the desire for hedge knights isn't so strong.

Nomad rangers make amazing hybrid backliners polearm/crossbow or thrower. Same range attack as hunter. Would put them super high A because they do cost more. But gamble u could have a bis/hybrid brother. Same with witch doctor they do have lower range. But seem to have good luck with them often, they also come with a T2 crossbow. It would be hilarious if they dont have 8x speed, pause at destination arrival, pause when enemy in sight (even when reappearing from out of sight) and pathing customization (option to avoid any enemies and direct line trajectory disregarding any nearby terrain circumstances). One of the reason I will never play Ironman is because of the pathing. And I cant watch people play because they rather add bunch distracting mods than mod the movement speed on map. Watching someone move at 2x is like watching paint dry.

Let me tell this: HEDGE KNIGHTS SUCKS! Extremely expensive and you need to have good luck. I preffer to try 20 low backgrounds. Is cheaper, you could get a good one early and similar stats to a hk. There are 2 reasons i would hire a Hedge Knight: 1- Is late game and i´m flooded in money and took the gamble and 2- The hedge have a weapon i want (usually a hammer or mace) and his cost is under 5k

    1. Sergeant is there to give resolve buff. Just poking with the banner and rally when you need to is enough. But you don't need to use the banner every fight, so you can use a better polearm or crossbow/gun if you want. I usually don't use sergeant for damage, but for rotating people around and out of trouble so I just use the normal banner and maybe a pocket shield. 2. Any bro with 50 starting resolve with 2* will get 90 at lvl 11, with the sash and fortified mind he can reach 130 easily. Cultists and Adventurous nobles usually have the most resolve.

I'll have to disagree with the beastslayer. Yes their average mdef means you'll seldom make them a frontliner, but they make for really good hybrids (e.g. crossbow+polearm). Most importantly though: You can just recruit them if you can spare the money and they'll basically always be good at something: Very rarely have I picked up a beastslayer and dismissed him. They're basically rock-solid without even needing to be tried out. Edit: The sellsword js very similar in that once you buy one, you'll basically always find a way to make him a good brother. Only with the upside that he has a high chance to be an endgame frontliner as well. As someone who gets constantly scammed by hedge knights I think you'd appreciate this. 😉

You're right, versatility is something I undervalue a little bit. Boils down to play style I think. I go from a bunch of plebs straight to specialized hedgies so I don't usually look for those flexible hybrid backgrounds.

@@feediefood The thing is that these backgrounds are often times disregarded as "hybrid backgrounds that only make good hybrids" when that's in fact wrong: I've had multiple endgame bros be sellswords and beastslayers just because they happened to have rolled well in some of their stats and got talents stars as well. And since they have more chances to roll well there's a higher chance to get those sweet bf duelists or insane throwers you want for those orc seas of tents and barbarian places of worship.

@@couchpotatoe91 Sellswords are low because I hate their events. Gladiators are basically the same without the events and they are S. Sellswords are still top B though, you could make the argument that they are A but that's just me being critical of them. I do buy sellswords once I have the paymaster to look for those "good" ones. But now that oathtakers exist and are quite common, I find that I have enough recruits to spend money on. I still don't get beast slayers though, they cost around 1-2k and they can only have 62 Matk and 49 Ratk, I think I'm better off with militias.

  • @couchpotatoe91

    @couchpotatoe91

    2 жыл бұрын

@@feediefood The thing with all of your preferred backgrounds you mention is that they all have to roll well on either matt or mdef (includig stars). If they don't they're basocally useless or make for overpriced tanks. Sellswords and and beastslayers on the other hand have a much higher chance to roll well and have stars on matt OR ratt. This makes them very good picks without trying them out as you're far more likely to get a good recruit. For reference: Anything over 85, ideally 90 matt or ratt is potential endgame material in my eyes.

Brawlers also roll low on melee defense, aside from needing a monk to avoid bad events. Except for Militia and Manhunter you mentioned proven cannon fodder backgrounds. Not to forget Farmhand and Brawler want around 13 to 16 crowns per day at level 1. For 1.5k I can replenish servant/fisherman fodder well over 10 times with militia spear/shield/nets. Gotta be honest with you, this tierlist seems REALLY random. Beastslayer, sellsword and wildman all have high tier stats, beastslayer actually is the #2 in stats if you dont count event backgrounds, while sellsword is #1 and wildman is 16#, which still puts it on the same level as assasin and squire, yet they are ranked differently... why? You said it yourself money is not an issue and none of them have game changing bad events. In what world is milita better than those mentioned? that makes 0 sense. Beastslayer/sellsword has a higher average score than hedge knights... and way higher than militia obviously. Same reason i dont understand Lumberjack in B and farmhand in A, when Lumberjack has literally better stats than farmhand. I have not seen this farmhand event for melee skill trigger even once, and the requirement for it to trigger is the brother to stay at level 2 or lower which is awful, basically means you carry around dead weight until it triggers, which is a random time in 100 days and then its on cooldown for 100 days, and it only works if he is level 2 or lower, basically 100 days in reserve... I could go on, but in general I think this tierlist is just random, sorry. If you are basing a tierlist and one tier is "endgame brothers" then gold should no matter at all, events should not matter at all unless they give stats, the only thing that matters in that case is stats and excluded traits. And therefore sellsword is #1 (highest stat average of any background) and beastslayer is #2, everything else makes 0 sense to me. The only exception to this should be farmhands because they could technically hit god tier after 1000 days of playing if u keep them at level 2 or lower, but this seems a little to much (melee skill event is repeatable).

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to answer some of your questions. I rank them base on their stats and events in relation to their price. So nomads can cost 2k and brawlers can cost 200 but value/price wise, they are both very good. They are on the same tier but you wouldn't buy a nomad day 1 or buy a brawler day 80. Sellswords and Beastslayer may have high stats on average, but that stats are spread out in irrelevant places. Hedge Knights have very high concentration of stats in HP, Fatigue, Attack and Def, that's what I want. I don't need a bunch of Ratk and Rdef from the sellsword. Sellswords are gladiators with bad events so that's why they are lower. Events matter to me. Assassins have the best concentration of Matk, Mdef and Initiative, that's crucial for certain builds. Lumberjacks are better farmhands, but they are also more expensive. Early on they are too pricey to hire and by the time you can hire them, you want better recruits. That's why I place militias so high, they hit that sweet spot. The tier list is not all about power level of the backgrounds, it's more like a roadmap on how to build a team though the stages of the game. If you are a veteran, you probably don't need one, but I appreciate your point of view :)

You do realise that you need to lvl those Caravan Hands to 6th lvl before benching them event right? Right xD?

He didn't put thief or farmer into S-tier. He clearly doesn't know what he's talking about at all. Literally gravel on the ground outside has a more valid opinion until he puts farmers and thieves into S-tier.

He explained that S-tiers are bros that you want for the long run AKA late game. I agree that thief and farmhands are op, but it's rare to get one so talented that you'll want to keep in a late game roster.

@@gabrielaugusto5704 I keep at least 3 or 4 mega tanks on every play thru and if I get a farmer with melee stars they often end up my mega tank. So I always have 2 or 3 thieves or farmers in my late game parties.

Well for me the B tier are there just to fill in the ranks. As long as they can put up a fight, have no terrible events and cost a reasonable amount, I'll pick them up.

Why are all of Battlebro videos sooo long? I really liked this video and I appreciate it, but every video I find for this game is an hour or more long. You might consider making guides in bite size peices. ie. The best classes for tank, the best classes for ranged, the best classes for pole, etc etc. I think it would make the videos easier to digest and would actually set yourself apart from other similar guides.
