Definitely earns its criticisms, but I think the problems this game has are very overexaggerated. The game is mid to decent, not "VERY bad."

We don’t hate Batman dying. We hate the way he dies. Here he dies fighting against a highly skilled man who has lived for centuries sacrificing himself to protect his city and family. Suicide Squad he dies in a chair to a crazy woman smack talking because he lost. What a joke

I disliked what happened to Batman but atleast have some knowledge about the games because its obvious your just raising your pitchfork because everybody else is. WB games own almost all batman games. This game was produced by the same studio (WB games montreal) that developed Arkham origins, and if I am not mistaken helped Rocksteady to make Arkham city and the Batgirl dlc in Arkham knight so I don't know what the hell you're own about "own game studio" Rocksteady only ever made Arkham asylum by themselves iirc, but I don't think batman has his "own game studio" considering he has many different games made by different studios. Perhaps you meant something elsr like "Most iconic studio" or something? Even if it wasn't it, all depends on the writers. Why should it matter if its their studio? Marvel made a bad game like avengers but Insomniac made good games like Spiderman1, miles morales and 2. Don't know why you have to exaggerate on that part. I don't think the same writers are evn writing suicide squad anymore. Btw, in the Suicide squad "ending" I am pretty sure its hinted the story isn't even over yet.

The spiderman games weren’t for me but i don’t like spiderman in general. He was definitely a seasoned crime fghter at the time and very capable of beating Bane but he had been awake for about a month and fought ever single criminal in his rogues gallery back to back the entire time. By the time he got to Bane (who he didnt even know existed) he was extremely tired. He lost because he didnt ask anyone for help over the last month so he could at least get 1 nights rest.

@@jamz8785 we don’t know that it’s actually Batman lmfao 🤣, the entire game batman is hallucinating joker, WHOS DEAD, I always took the ending as the fear toxin had lasting effects on criminals, and when they are committing crimes like the guys in the alley, they could act cool but their anxiety would act up, causing the toxin to activate, making them see the nightmareish Batman that appears, for all we know that’s nightwing or Robin, but the criminals see Batman. All of them were effected when the cloudburst went off, and at the end you don’t see them get sprayed with anything before we see it, so the only logical explanation is that it was them being pre exposed to the toxin from before. The entire ending has NOTHING cut in stone, Batman could vary much be alive, and doing things from the shadows, but then it makes no sense to why Alfred and him looked so sad before the manor blew up, but yes he COULD be alive that doesn’t mean he is. It’s entirely up to interpretation

The suicide squad game didn’t even make this better, this death scene is genuinely the best way for Batman to go

I always saw Batman as the prime example of what It means to be human in this world. He sees evil as a plague, but he doesn't kill because that would be make him no better than them. He looks out for the little guy, adopting orphans in the cruel world that we live in. And even if he's fictional and fake, He's still somewhat a good example to live up to.

It’s a cool action scene, sure. But personally, I think it’s pretty weak that he died to begin with. At his batcave, a technological marvel with countless contingency plans, there should be absolutely no way he gets killed.

Something even WORSE comes out afterwards, and they come crawling back to forgive the thing before that they previously hated. Suddenly, it's "not so bad" anymore. A lot of people r e a l l y hate it.

Honestly I thought this was bad initially. But after watching what happens in the new Suicide Game it makes this look like a masterpiece

He should have voice this Batman it would have made a proper send off.

this cut scene would’ve been badass if the talon was involved here too batman can literally take on multiple opponents at once. i think if they would’ve thrown the talon and some of his army in here this fight scene really would’ve been something. it would’ve been batman vs the talon with a good amount of his army and ra’s. also it was really the crossbow that was doing most of the damage. also maybe in this universe the court found a way to enhance the lazarus pit thus giving ra’s more power in every way possible.

exactly. I feel like they needed to add more to emphasize why batman felt that he needed to die or setting up a situation where it made sense for him to die. Maybe Ra's decided to work with the court or something and when he turns up dead Talia thinks the court betrayed him or whatever, that would not only have gone with the plot but would gave created a situation where it fully makes sense for batman to do what he did. A scene of him fighting off an invasion of the cave, then deciding to bury everyone with him after realizing he can't stop Ra's or escape without letting them take control of the cave would have been better than him getting caught lacking by a guy hes been dealing with for years in his home territory. I just feel like they didn't do a good job in showing why batman needed to die here. If he thought he was hamstringing the league and the court before they could fuck everyone over then it made sense for him to go out like he did.

They could have gave ras powers to catch Batman off guard brought in an army made the fight playable to give the player a feeling of lose but nope they made him look weak and pathetic and put it all in a flippin cut scene this felt like an absolute insult to everything Batman stands for what a massive middle finger to the fan base 🤦

I mean I can see that but a lot of people forget that Ra's has lived for hundreds of years. Lived and thrived. Very little he hasn't seen or done. I always figured that whenever Batman won against him, it was because Ra's was either secretly testing Batman, underestimated him, or was kind of half assing it. This Ra's seemed like he was done holding back. Finally ready to put the bat down.

They're magic and enhanced stuff, normal science cant stop that. The sword visibly cut through stone and solid steel like butter, of course it could cut a bullet resistant suit

I love how everyone is returning here, showing praise and respect because of what they did in Suicide Squad.

I like this way. He died fighting back with honor. Way better Death.

I like how GK showed that besides being a badass hero, he was also one very important thing: a father.

Something about this just feels off characterization wise, for both of them. Sure the action is really cool, but it just doesn't seem right for Rás to be so aggressive all of a sudden when even at his most diabolical he respects Batman, and I've NEVER seen Batman struggle physically like this against Rás, mortally wounded or otherwise. I guess "hmmm" sums up my feelings on it

Here, let me show you by impaling myself unnecessarily." Being willing to die if there's no other option is one thing but stabbing yourself just to show you are willing to die? Dumb. Imagine an alternate scene: Batman enters a room with armed thugs. They all turn to point their guns at him and one says "I'm gonna blow your brains out, Bat-freak!" Batman snarls at him. "I'm not afraid of getting shot!" He then puts a gun in his mouth and pulls the trigger to make his point.

Two times. They (technically) killed him two times here and those two send-offs are so much better than the one in Suicide Squad. If you actually call that thing a "send-off".

This game aged surprisingly well

i thought this was horrible when i first saw this. i now think this is beautiful. i'm still treating the ending in arkham knight as the canon ending, that was a perfect send off for batman imo

God dude, this game is so damn good. If it's gameplay was something closer to your average super hero game, it'd probably be super beloved. Instead it's an amazing story trapped behind, put lightly, divisive gameplay. I personally still love it to this day, it just could have been so much more.

When the game first came out people was so upset they killed bat man they completely forgot how much dignity they gave him. He died a warrior. The definition of a solider. So sad that now people are going back and playing this game releasing its fun. They let little things ruin the game for em. In years time some new game will be out people won't like something about it so theyll start looking at suicide squad. Everyone hated cod ghosts, until advanced warfare. And then suddenly people who spent an entire year bashing ghost started to play it due to being burned out on bo2 and not liking exo suits. Funny how now people are angry we for mw3 instead advanced warfare. People always bitch. Never listen to any reviews or critics play the games

Me when this game came out: “This game is horrible Batman deserved better…” Me coming back to Gotham Knights after Watching Suicide kill the justice league treat Batman: “Perhaps I treated you too harshly.”

Still better than new one.

When you compare Bruce’s death in this compared to the Gotham Knights show, this all of a sudden becomes a masterpiece.

A year ago, comments here were written by whimpering fanboys who were unhappy with Bruce's defeat (because an "ordinary human" cannot lose, lmao) Now the comment is being written by people who have managed to appreciate this finale. Unfortunately, to do this, they had to see Rocksteady pissing on Batman's corpse.

You shouldn't forget that while batman won in the comics against ras that doesn't mean ras is a pushover who can't kill batman in the right circumstances. He has trained way more than batman and has way more fighting experience. And in the games batman faced ras once and batman may have won and most likely he won in their past encounters as well. But ras does want batman to replace him so he partly wanted batman to kill him. And in this encounter it seemed like ras was prepared to hunt the batman to kill him and it seemed like the lazarus pit or something else augmented his powers. So ras had the right circumstances to overpower batman.

The actual gameplay wasn't great, but you can tell they had a lot of respect for the Arkham games and Batman in general. The whole 5 minute fight choreo was amazing and every scene involving Batman in this game.

Perhaps we treated Gotham knights a little too harsh

For all its gameplay flaws, this game at least had respect for its characters

I can't believe that Batman would lose to Ras; even though he was his mentor, I feel Batman has outgrown him in many ways; ESPECIALLY not in his own house with his weapons all around.

Gotham Knights got vindicated by history so fast solely because it was a fun game that actually gave Batman a good sendoff and felt like a DC game instead of SSKTJL.
