@@SRWallace12 they actually did most of that though, but I agree with you they don't go as in-depth as people think they do, the last part seems kind of shady too, usually when they do these comparisons they try to appeal to the audience and what the general audience would think so I understand. If they wanted Terry McGinnis to be the superior they should have not only mentioned back story but mentioned personality and character arcs, because I think Miguel O'Hara's backstory is a little bit better but Terry McGinnis has a overall a better, relatable personality and character arc.

Even though I grew up watching The Batman Beyond television series, I still prefer Spider-Man 2099. In addition to his costume, powers/abilities and his origin being more memorable, especially since they did that change to McGennis's origin with the DNA swap and Wayne being his biological father, which seemed really dumb, it makes it seem like there wasn't even a point to him getting revenge for the man who turns out not to be his dad?! Just seems like unnecessary bad writing.

Black Zone Comics Warren was Terry’s father, but Bruce was his biological father. The development with Bruce’s DNA was retconned in during the Justice League series (what was going to be the final episode of the DCAU), and a reaction by writers to viewers who had noted that Warren and Mary, two redheads, were the parents of Terry and Matt, who had dark hair. Genetics doesn’t work that way, so Amanda Waller replacing Warren’s reproductive material with Bruce Wayne’s was inserted into the continuity. It could explain why they were separated, Warren though Terry and Matt weren’t his children.

I'm more of a Batman Beyond guy, but I can see why you can be upset with the whole DNA retcon, I'm actually a fan of it but at the same time it seems more necessary just to have the original backstory rather than the retcon, I think Miguel O'Hara has a better backstory but Terry McGinnis has a better personality and character arc, although Spider-Man 2099's suit looks more badass I have to say that Batman Beyond suit looks pretty cool but is honestly more badass in terms of abilities rather than appearance. At the end of the day I think both characters are pretty awesome even though I'm more for Batman Beyond, I wish they brought Spider-Man 2099 back in popularity, and I also wish they brought back Batman Beyond back in popularity as well I want the future for these two to be basically the main players of each Universe just like their predecessors.

I agree.

It was also revealed that Miguel’s boss that got him addicted to drugs was also his father. Your father being your biggest enemy beats son of Batman retcon. That said I think both are awesome.

Yeah, although I'm more of a fan of Batman Beyond, WatchMojo has been known to cheat and it's honestly not fair for the other character. Him being a clone son of Bruce Wayne is a retcon backstory not a original backstory, if they wanted Batman Beyond to win they should have showed personality and character arcs as well, because I honestly thought that Spider-Man 2099's backstory was just a little bit more creative, but when it comes to personality, character, and character arcs, I think Batman Beyond is superior in that.

Terry is a better character in my very personal opinion

Got to give it to Terry, Miguel O’Hara is no Peter Parker, but at least Terry has Bruce to coach him and train him

You forgot to focus on the fact that Terry's loss wasn't as severe as Bruce's. Bruce lost both his parents at a very young age, leaving him alone in a cruel world with only Alfred as family. Terry, on the other hand, lost his father at an older age, but still retained his mother and brother. While Terry may have initially gotten into the Batsuit out of a desire for revenge, his strong family ties allowed him to become more emotionally balanced than Bruce, at least until his "parentage" was revealed. Ultimately, Terry, though not Bruce's equal as Batman, is able to surpass Bruce in a very important part: compassion for others, even those who try to kill him.

Batman Beyond because.... Batman Beyond was an amazing show

Good point he is physically more powerful since his strength is drawn from a perfect genetic splicing, versus the imperfect radiation tampering with Peter, but the OG Spidey is obviously still Amazing

i think MCU and DCAU are about equal. Marvel has always sucked at an animated universe and DC has generally sucked at movie universes. But switch it around and its pretty good

I still love Batman Beyond! not just because Kevin Conroy voiced Bruce and Eric Friedle (Eric Matthews on boy meets world) voiced Terry!

I think Batman Beyond had much better world building. Particularly because of how much more closely it was tied to Batman: The Animated Series and the DC Animated Universe. It really dealt with the legacy of Batman and his influence on the world. The way they brought back older villains was so well done. The idea of the Jokerz gang alone is genius and adds so much to Bruce's story and what he tried to do with Batman. Think about it, after all these years, Batman is all but forgotten, yet the Joker is not only remembered but there are people trying to emulate him. However, when Terry becomes Batman, no one questions it, and everyone just accepts that Batman is back. It shows how not only people still remember Batman but the idea is so ingrained in the culture that no one questions how Batman could just be back after disappearing for decades.

Terry only entered the mainstream DC continuity in the Futures End year long event series in 2014, and upon the conclusion of that the mantle of Batman Beyond was taken up by a time displaced Tim Drake. This lasted a year or so, until the title went back to #1 and Terry in the 2016 Rebirth retool.

What an original mashup that totalyy wasn't done before. Nice Mojo. Also, nice matchup ending. Really. Totally ignore the fact the "son of Batman" thing was a cheap slip in. No, don't worry about the one trying to get drugs out of his system. Just focus on DC like you always enjoy doing.

One thing to note, in an episode of Batman Beyond an AI takes over Terry’s suit and he has to fight it armed with only the Nightwing mask, a classic utility belt and his own combat skills.

don't forget, in one of the episodes of batman beyond, Terry actually loses control of the bat suit because of a computer program implanting itself into it. that episode, Terry actually beat the bat suit all on his own. that's good enough just to win on power and skils

Terry uses his suit for stealth and force in a realistic and wicked way. The combat is smart, future Gotham City is epic, and you get awesome music. The Animated Series is still my favorite though :D

I call bull on the Origin round. Miguel had to deal with greater family problems than Terry. An abusive Step-Father, a disowning Mother, and despite caring for him, an envious Brother. Miguel had similar situation with his Employer secretly being his Blood Father (unbeknownst to Miguel and his half-brother Kron aka Venom 2099, who's terrorized him since childhood) The fact that Miguel was putting down his father's corporation and constantly at each others throats (even when Miguel discovers this) is a greater impact than the out of nowhere retcon of Terry being Bruce's son in the most convoluted way. Besides this is about origin and not about who their fathers are. You even say yourself that Miguel has a darker and more complex origin than Terry's familiar setting to Bruce but because he's the son of Batman he gets the gold? Not buying it.

Miguel is actually a more appropriate choice. Without the suit Terry is just half a Batman
