It was from last July, but I never expect the Psycho house or Bates Motel to ever been torn down. Barring some catastrophe, they should be there forever. It’s such an iconic set, there would be huge backlash if they got rid of it.

@@TomWasHereOnKZread is this the same location where they filmed psycho or was a separate set? Cuz I'd love to see the original location where Janet Lee and Tony Perkins walked

This is the real deal. The house for sure is definitely the original. I’m sure they have had to make some repairs over the years but it’s definitely the same house from the original film. Not sure if the Bates Motel is original, but it’s definitely been there a long time if it’s not.

Yeah it’s on the Universal Studios backlot in Hollywood. They will take you right past it on the Studio Tour.

The "House" looks amazing!. The narrative is abit nauseating though.

I belief they do run the tours at night as well. Also during Halloween Horror Nights you can walk up right next to it.

So weird. Of all the places on the Universal lot to build a large set piece, they built the How the Grinch Stole Christmas set right behind Bates motel. It takes away from the ominous feel of the set to have Whoville sitting right behind it. An odd choice.

Jado The Potato wow, I didn’t hear that. I can’t imagine they would get rid of Bates, it’s a national landmark and would probably Be a huge backlash. Them getting rid of whoville is less of a backlash and a better backdrop for Bates.

So interestingly enough, the thing behind there isn’t a float, it’s actually the set from How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the Ron Howard/Jim Carrey version. It is distracting though and I believe they did tear it down recently.
