It's so much harder to go that fast and land tricks... absolutely no room for error. Yet, he goes for the win in style every time. What a pleasure to watch, there's no one like him. Kudos to Hofler for all the amazing defenses too

Luan on flat ground is like trying to face Mike Tyson in his prime. He’s just on another level. He goes fast, pops high and can rifle off any trick with style.

u can't be that surprised, he's just a really good skater indeed and he has a real good flick, there u see how important basics like the kickflip are! almost every flip trick is based on it. and heelflip variations are based on the ollie, like dragging slowly.

I had a big smile on my face during this entire game. Also, I've never seen a Switch Hardflip recovered and saved so late.

Every time I watch Luan I find it hard to refute that he is the flat ground Goat. I don’t think there is anyone else like him. Even against great skaters like Chris Joslin, his power and clean execution display a significant difference

@@myactualfullname Yeah, Sewa’s tricks have a more relaxed, clean style which is also dope. He looks like he has power but just is his style to do minimal effort necessary. I guess at end of the day, my preference is the aggressive display of power of Luan. Also, as deep as Sewa’s is I do think Luan’s is a little deeper, but I could be wrong.

@@tmjones212 well as you saw kelvin did slide some of his tricks but he only slid about the last 90 degrees for the most part. i think they mostly mean if you kickflip and then revert or pivot the landing at the very last second, you can’t call that a frontside flip it would have to be a kickflip revert. not to mention kelvin was on defense for most of the game who cares if he does a little sliding.

@@zach3955 The rule is "no sliding your trick on the ground if your opponent popped their trick". There's not much room for ambiguity in the rule statement. In the enforcement, well, I've never seen it enforced. Has it ever been called, even a single time?

What I’m beginning to understand is that the speed that Luan does his tricks and height he pops adds a whole other level of complexity to the tricks he does. Who else can combine pop and speed with style on his go-to tricks? Not many I know... While many of his go-to tricks aren’t the “hardest”, the speed and height he performs them at makes them so, to me

catching the board in a solid fashion adds lots of control. that's what I think Luan has...reverts, late flips, late shuvs...you're ahead of the board's air time

I actually think that doing it that way is easier for him at this point. If you pop high you have plenty of time to let the board spin and flip and catch it and make a balanced landing. And going quickly helps you pop higher. That being said it might be easier for him but for most people it's impossible. The control and ability he has is truly something special. He's also just an absolute style master.

Kelvin was like "damn, son, how do you even flick those circus tricks?" 1 sec later *perfectly flicks those circus tricks

Damn. With Luan you sometimes can’t tell if it’s switch or normal 🤯 And going 90 mph at the same time….

@@weslennunessaabedra1467 Tive a honra de dar um rolê com ele 10 anos atrás lá na Avenida Paulista, ele tinha acabado de entrar na Nike e simplesmente colou na pracinha onde eu e meus amigos andávamos lá, brincou e foi atencioso com todo mundo, parecia que já era do nosso rolê e pelo que sei o cara não mudou, ainda bem!

They are both so kind and charming I forgot I was watching a competitive game of skate. Loved this.

Props to Kelvin. Dude looked like he’d never stood on a skateboard before and was landing some super technical tricks. Luan looked like he was born on a skateboard, as always.

Did you see his "consistency" b-side scratch video posted by Thrasher or Transworld like 2 weeks ago? It was allll fakie fs or bs flips (cant remember)... Like 12 in a row. I guess you can kind of will things to happen with his kind of knowing confidence. ...like you just believe it is an eventuality and the board flips tight, then you bolt it.

So amazing

While I doubt anyone had Kelvin to win, that ranked among the great defensive efforts of BATB history, a truly special thing in its own right. The relaxed proficiency with which he’d get each of Luan’s trick’s 85% of the way there, and then just bring it home every time... it was beautiful to watch. So relaxed. I want to see Luan back in the finals to defend his title, but I didn’t want this one to end. I loved watching how Both guys got more and more hyped with Kelvin’s defense. Even Luan was visibly delighted. This one really felt good to watch. I showed up psyched to see Luan rock, and I left glad I got to witness Kelvin roll. Thanks guys.

Man, Luan still going full beast mode. Blows my mind the speed, pop and precision. Full send with authority. That board has learned to obey. Big props to Kelvin for keeping up with this madman for so long. Really enjoyable game.
